It's a habit I've had since the pandemic began, and I also had to learn to improve that habit during the pandemic. I want to tell you how I started exercising since I was diagnosed with asymptomatic COVID during the pandemic.
after reading so much and watching many videos where it was said that to be healthy you had to strengthen the body, I started training at home since being locked up at home for so long caused me a lot of anxiety at night I couldn't sleep, I started with a routine that I followed from an application with quite good benefits, some of the exercises included yoga that help with resistance, at the end of the quarantine I still felt anxious so much time at home apart from being sick repeatedly and my job is at home and I didn't go out to socialize, I decided to go to a gym, I looked for several options until a friend told me to go to one where she knew and from that moment I started weight training, it was a challenge because I had never trained with weights since I was quite underweight at 47 kilograms and I couldn't carry the smallest weight, I can say that it is quite exhausting. But the benefits were already quite incredible, I began to be able to lift heavy things with ease, better physical and mental health and this year I increased my muscle mass reaching 60 kilograms.
Those two hours of challenging your body and the consistency of daily routine train not only your body but your mind—the ability to say "I can do it" while suffering with each repetition. The truth is, it transforms you, or as I sometimes say, destroying myself in order to build myself up. I also made changes to my diet, making it healthier without stopping eating, just increasing my protein intake and eliminating sugary drinks like soda.
The changes I made in my life helped me calm my anxiety, I feel less irritated, I can sleep through the night and have much more strength, I can say that I feel much better in mental health, I already have a better and less explosive character, more tranquility and my physical strength has increased, apart from interacting with several people and living with other people with the same discipline and perseverance. right now in the gyms I have noticed the large number of older adults training and it is quite commendable, that in years ago was not seen, that has changed many people are aware of taking care of their health, they know that the best way is to exercise the body, as people we must decide how we want to age and I want to age with strength and a better quality of life. I think that going every day and noticing physical and mental changes encourages me to continue although it is not easy to challenge yourself and be disciplined. But when I analyze each change in me, it gives me strength to continue, my goal is to continue, I do not see myself without training and my regret is the fact of not having started much earlier. But it's never too late. I recommend everyone get moving, whether it's running, walking, or training at home, and enjoy the process. You won't regret it.
