Warm Hello to all Hive Friends in this amazing community. Hoping our Wednesday is filled with happiness and positivity as we continue doing our duties and daily obligations.

Today, I’m excited to share about our walk at Naga City Baywalk. This is one of the cities in Cebu, Philippines. They are known for their cement factory and other industrial products. What’s also nice about this city is that it is located along the coastal highway going to the southern part of Cebu province.

The walk continues here… the sky was bright but with a slight overcast. It was about mid-afternoon so there weren’t too many people within the area yet. Adjacent to the main park is the Children’s Playground. It was spacious and trees were planted within the perimeter so it was nice that the children could play conveniently especially with the shaded areas. At that time, I saw only few children playing with their parents supervising them. There was also a tennis court next to a mango tree.

I like how they maximize natural resources by installing solar-powered lamp posts.

I admired how the trees and other plants looked healthy and not withering despite the hot weather these days. They must have been watered every day.

My partner with the Kalachuchi tree on the right, looking at the cargo ships from a distance.

Most of them are non-flowering plants. There were some flowering trees but sadly, they were not blooming these days. Just like this Kalachuchi tree with red flowers (Plumeria or Frangipani). I heard that this flower symbolizes devotion and spirituality. I love its subtle fragrance; and this is also offered in churches.

We continued our walk to the bay area as I joyfully embraced the moment with the gentle sea breeze surrounding us and hearing the gleeful distant voices of friends walking around the park too.

At that moment while looking at the clear water, I felt like going for a swim.

A small boat with a traditional design could be seen. At a distance, some ships were on anchor. I suppose most of them are cargo vessels.

I noticed those concrete block structures strategically placed near the boardwalk. In my funny thought, I said they were like huge jackstones. I told my partner about huge jackstones floating in the sea... 😀

Well, they are tetrapod or wave breaker blocks, primarily for enforcing coastal structures.

It’s nice to see how they beautify the place by putting some illuminated animal decorations that surely make the evening walk look more exciting. Perhaps the height is almost 10-feet tall from the head part. There were some of them within this spot.

We kept walking along the bay, this is the front part of a building with some food shops inside but they were still not open at this time of the day. It’s facing the sea; I thought it would be nice to eat there in the evening.

Few meters more from this point, they were still working on the pathway and more restaurants a little bit farther could be seen which were also being constructed. This spot here will be in full-swing perhaps by the end of this year.

Love the turquoise color of sea; it was inviting for a swim. It was soothing to my eyes and gave me positive feeling.

I enjoyed the walk so much as the view helped in clearing my thoughts. Simple moments like this is worth cherishing, thankful for the time and chance to unwind a bit. We then decided to start the journey back home.

Before exiting the park, I noticed this building, perhaps it's for functions or local events. This structure looks contemporary but I got attracted to the windows because they looked traditional, and called Capiz windows.

Capiz windows are made from the shell of windowpane oyster, particularly the translucent part of the shell. Then traditionally framed within a type of hardwood found in the Philippines. In Philippine colonial architecture, this type of windows are common as well as house decorations made from the shell of windowpane oyster.

In this shot, still within the park area, apparently we can see some modes of transportation in the country. In particular, the bicycle with an attachment or something like “sidecar bike” is used for rides within the park, transporting people within villages or communities, and within inner roads.

Along the highway... the church of this city is called St. Francis of Assisi which was made of coral and limestone in 1839. There is also a convent behind the church and a bell tower. Unfortunately, the church was closed that time.

The bell tower has a five-story pyramid with open arches and with decorative metal frame. The bell tower looks contemporary as it was damaged by typhoon and was rebuilt in 1974.

After this, we proceeded home while silently praying for our safety on the road. It was another day walking in the park and along the bay with a quick visit at the church that went peacefully with fine weather and friendly folks between those moments. I thanked my partner for taking time to go with me to that place for a much needed walk and unwinding.

Thank you very much for your time and for reading this post as part of #wednesdaywalk challenge. I hope this made you smile... My heartfelt gratitude to @tattoodjay for supporting this community where we can share our walk experiences. See you all around Hive!
