Loud, colorful, and fun day at the Big Obrenovac Fair 🎠

Two days ago, my fiancé and I went to the Obrenovac fair, and it turned out to be one of those days with a lot of fun in it. I didn’t used to go to huge fairs like this, so it was something special for me. I expected a regular little event, maybe a few stalls and some candy, but it was massive. As soon as we arrived, we realized that this wasn’t just a market – it was a whole world of its own. Crowds of people were walking in every direction, loud music was coming from several places at the same time, and the smell of food was everywhere. We started walking through the rows and rows of stalls. " \"IMG-20250712-WA0027.jpg\""People were selling all kinds of things – both new and second-hand. There were clothes, shoes, tools, household stuff, furniture, kitchen gadgets, even old VHS tapes and vintage radios. It felt like part flea market, part bazaar, and part antique shop. What I liked most is that it didn’t feel like a “fake” touristy fair – this was the real thing. A bit chaotic, loud, full of characters, and with that Balkan charm that I love. Some of the sellers were super entertaining. They had such funny and creative ways to attract people. One guy selling bedding made me laugh so hard – he was yelling: “Magic sheets! For couples! Two go to bed, three wake up!” 😂

Many tables full of colorful sweets – the shiny kind we call svilene bombone, then soft gummy ones, and so many types of halva that I didn’t know which one to choose. Some had chocolate, some vanilla, some pistachio, so yummy! Then we reached the long line of food tents. Under those big white and yellow tents were rows of wooden tables, still mostly empty when we arrived – but the grills were already busy. Whole pigs and lambs were slowly roasting, and the smoke was dancing in the sunset light. " \"IMG-20250712-WA0025.jpg\"" There was loud live music playing from speakers – a mix of folk and turbo-pop. A singer and a violinist were performing live from table to table, and people were throwing money on them while waiting for their food. That part was really something new to see – not really my kind of music, but I loved the atmosphere I saw there. As the sun went down, we reached the luna park, and the energy changed completely. It was loud, colorful, and full of lights. All the big rides were there – Kamikaze, Balerina, Adrenaline, the Pirate Ship (yep, we got on that one!) – and so many people waiting in line, laughing or screaming. And of course I took a pic of our little plastic Pirata cards as souvenirs. " \"IMG-20250712-WA0034~2.jpg\"" " \"IMG-20250712-WA0044.jpg\""

There were also classic fun fair things – bumper cars, shooting games, arcade machines, small trains for kids. Even those stands where you shoot balloons or cans and try to win a teddy bear. One thing I really like but I am scared of – those random guys walking around with big snakes and parrots. And of course, there were plenty of them. Every 10 meters it felt like someone was carrying a giant snake on their shoulders or letting people pose with parrots. I didn't, I just watch with admire from the big distance, hihi. :D We treated ourselves with ice cream, roasted corn, and finally – my favorite – pancakes with Nutella and Plazma. You simply can't go to a fair without getting one of those. " \"IMG-20250712-WA0026.jpg\"" " \"IMG-20250712-WA0050.jpg\""

The Obrenovac fair was chaotic, noisy, a bit smoky… and totally wonderful. It’s the kind of place where you don’t need a plan – you just go, walk, eat, explore, and smile.
