Hello everyone
I welcome you all to my blog on this beautiful day, i hope you are all foing great, its a beautiful day out here and today, i will be sharing with you the making of this beautiful hair band i made for my little friend using fabric scraps of two different colors and im sure you will like the beautiful outcome.
As a seamstress, i have a lot of scrap fabric in my bags and im sure not willing to trash them out as i know they can still be useful to the last piece, sometimes, i make applique from these scraps to beautify my outfit or tgat of clients but today, i am making this for my friend's little daughter who is also my friend. I was recently on phone with my friend telling her i will be coming to see her tomorrow and her daughter heard and asked me to bring something nice for her, i know she loves hair band so much and i decided to make this for her along with other things.
Join me as i take you through the cutting and sewing process
I measured and cut out 5 x 5" of fabric from two different colors
It was folded in a triangular shape and I sew on both sides leaving an opening where it can be turned inside out
I trimmed off the edges and it was turned inside out through the opening and was top stitched on
It was neatly ironed and i placed one on the other with 1" away from the top mid point to mid point
The sharp edge was folded in and i used my hand needle and thread to run a long stitch through the middle
It was tightly secure with the thread and i proceeded to make the elastic casing.
For the elastic casing, i measured and cut out 20 x 1.5" of fabric, it was folded and sewn together on the wrong side
It was turned inside out and i inserted an elastic band if 7" in the loop and it was secure together
After which, i used thread to secure the flower and the elastic band together
To cover the rough part, i cut out a small piece which was sewn and turned inside out
Finally, it was used to cover the middle of the band with my glue gun for a neat and beautiful finishing.
This is the final outcome and im sure my little friend will be so glad to have it. I hope you love the design and beautiful outcome of it.
