Hello everyone
Its a beautiful day out here with the cool weather, i hope you are all doing great at your respective places, i woke up with the intention to make this small pencil casing with zipper and handle for my nephew.
The long holiday is over and while on break, my nephew and nieces were enrolled in holiday's lessons, they have their writing materials aside the ones they use in school, after the break, these writing materials like pencil were to be kept safe and secure because as they begin another session in school, they will have to resume with new writing materials, you know how children can be, they would want to resume the new class with new writing materials. So for the safe keeping of their lessons writing material, i decided to make this pencil casing for my nephew.
Lets get started with the cutting and sewing process
I measured and cut out 6.5 x 17" with interfacing ironed on it and the main fabric was used to cut out lining with same measurement
I have a small zipper which was sewn on both up and down of the main fabric with the lining on it and it was top stitched on the right side on both sides of the zipper
From the zipper, i measured 2" which was folded down and i took it to the sewing machine to sew on both sides
On the four sides of it, i measured and cut out 1 x 1" just as seen below
For the handle, i measured and cut out 7 x 4" of fabric which was folded in to the middle and folded in two as well before it was sewn on both sides
The handle was placed on both sides at the top and was sewn together, at the bottom as well, it was sewn together just as seen below.
The excess zipper was trimmed off and finally, it was turned inside out to the right side through the zipper opening.
This is the final outcome with the pencil well arranged in it.
I hope you like the simplicity and beautiful outcome of this pencil casing, well this can also be used for other purposes as desired for keeping other items.
