It's a beautiful day out here as you all know, it gives me great joy to sit behind my sewing machine to create something nice and useful for people around me. Today, I will be sharing with you the cutting and sewing process of a book cover i make fir my friend and a book mark to make it a complete set for her book.

Yesterday, I made a book mark for my friend as promised when I went to visit her and I met her reading a book but because I was around, she had to mark where she stopped before setting it aside but was she did was what actually made me promised to make her a book mark, to indicate where she stopped, she had to fold the page in which I thought was not right and I decided to make this book mark for her to make it easy.

But today, I thought of making a book cover to her book to prevent the back from peeling off and to protect the cover as well, so made this book cover with same material I used for the book mark and the outcome was nice and beautiful. I'm sure my friend will be so glad to have this little but useful gift from me.

To make the book cover, I measured the book while it was opened and added 2" to the left and right, the measurement was cut out from the main fabric and lining while I ironed interfacing on the main fabric

I cut out 2 pieces of 7 x 10" and it was folded in two as I top stitched on the folded end of each piece

It was placed on the main fabric and sewn together on each side

I placed the lining on it right side to right side and it was sewn together leaving an opening where it can be turned inside out to the right side

After sewing, it was turned inside out through the opening and it was neatly ironed

It was top stitched round and this is how it looks
