Food and gatherings are always the best. As a Filipino it is very common to celebrate and gather relatives in special occasions.Because of the pandemic we only have to invite only family and relatives and a few friends.
My cousin who just became 18 years old celebrated his birthday. And his brother who is a Seafarer has finally went home. Let me share to you a simple yet delicious meal we had.
And this is how my weekend goes.

Everything served are common Filipino dishes that we enjoy on parties and special gatherings. The cake shouldn't be missing since it's a birthday.
We started with the singing of happy birthday to our birthday boy and let him wish. I get to chitchat with my aunt and cousin while eating. And of course, the most favorite Filipino past time is videoke/karaoke, and we shouldn't miss that. So we had more bonding time by singing our favorite songs. Did you know that Filipinos are fond of Karaoke? In every celebration there will always be the karaoke machine this is because Filipinos feel connected when it comes to singing. They love it when their friends sing, when they see a relative sing. That's why it's the perfect activity for when you want to bring people together. The tone of your voice wouldn't matter as long as your having so much fun and bonding with the people you love.Did you know that in the Philippines, we’re naturally born singers (being in tune or not)? Wherever we may go, we always bring our love to singing. Even if I may not be in tune most of the time but I still choose to sing. Maybe my Filipino blood tells me.
Another family bonding would be drinking of alcoholic drinks, food, karaoke and people will not be complete without the drinking. But of course there should be moderation. While singing the ladies get to drink red wine and for the boys would be the red label. This was so much fun. The birthday boy also enjoyed his day and got a bit drunk from the many alcoholic drinks prepared for that day.
Birthdays has always been the most exciting part of anyone's life. I didn't really had the chance to feel excited of the every birthdays I had I still am always thankful of the gift of life and the blessings that came to my family.
