Good morning everyone. Happy Friday to all of you. It is great to wake up in a nice relaxed place and I can get all that here in our Province. I got the chance to go home yesterday since it is my rest day and luckily I get to attend one of my friends birthday.
His birthday celebration is just a simple celebration. We decided to have some some fish and banana bud kinilaw. We have some friends that also is a fisherman and it so happen that he just finished catching fishes so he decided to give some of his caught fish to us to add it to the celebration.
As you can see we have grilled and kinilaw fish (flying fish). This was bought in the market. You can also so "inun-unang eto" (fish paksiw) which was given to us by our fisherman friend. One dish that we also have is "kinilaw na puso sa saging" (banana blossom).
By the way, this is the birthday celebrant Crisver. He just turned 33 yesterday and I am happy to be part of the celebration.
Here in our province, it is very common to have boodle fight whenever there is some celebrations. Food is typically served during a Boodle Fight on top of a table covered in banana leaves. Food is either placed on top of or around the rice once it has been placed in the middle of the plate. Prior to the "battle," water jugs are also placed on the side to be utilized for hand cleaning. There are no serving utensils used in a Boodle Fight. This is undoubtedly not a sophisticated dining experience because it is customary to eat with your bare hands, a practice known as kamayan. I assure you that doing this is far more exciting! This is more enjoyable than those where there are many sets of cutlery and glassware in front of you.
