Just now, our beloved Steemit CEO @ned submitted a pull request to the main steem code repository:

https://github.com/steemit/steem/pull/1237 - Update README.md #1237

It looks like this:

No description was added. But what was changed?...

He had removed the (beta) from the readme file. This is what visitors to the GitHub see as the first header going to https://github.com/steemit/steem.

How exciting! This reminds me of when Gmail finally, finally left beta a long time after I joined forever ago. Google trusted that it was polished enough to be ready for mass adoption.

After so many hardforks and 13.37 million blocks, the steem blockchain and code is now ready to take on anything.

NOTE: This is a pull request, meaning it's not part of the main code yet, but could be close. It will need other developers to review and approve it and a codebase maintainer to merge it in.
