Through-out history we all know that jobs shift and they often shift rapidly. This comes from innovation such as the industrial revolution, computers and the internet being some the most recent examples. And once again we are hitting another. One thing I think that is clear is these changes are happening at a much more rapid pace.
Older working generations had to deal with one maybe two shifts. But already in terms of my generation we are now hitting our third and it's coming fast.
Now some of this data comes from economic data but let's be honest the recent events in the government now put into major question any of these reports. The trust has been lost and with that most people are not caring about so called numbers governments randomly throw out to make themselves look good when in reality the numbers are way off and wrong.
So not only are we dealing with a fresh line up of new jobs markets but we also once again have more reason to not trust the government and the numbers they push out and honestly that's a real shame and it's extremely damaging.
That change is AI and it's only becoming more rapid.
That lie you were sold (myself included) that you needed to go to college, get yourself into massive debt because it would get you a better job that would help you pay off that student loan faster and then make more money by the time you retire is just that a big lie and one people are getting a serious wake up call about.
To be honest I only went to college for a little bit and hated it. I learned more OUTSIDE of college then I did in it and only saw it as wasting money and left early. To many this was a "stupid" move but in all honesty I think it was one of the best decisions I made and put me on the path I am on today of where I feel like I'm actually ahead of others with unique thinking outside of the "system".
Think of it this way and what people around you have been saying.
Most would have made fun of you for having a factory job and then being replaced in that factory job and told to go learn how to code. Which many did and it did pay well for a little while. But then entered AI which is replacing these high paying jobs and allowing people to do it themselves.
However this is where I look at things that you need to know how to use AI and if you do know how to code you use AI to help you production wise. However be ready to take a price cut and work for less because yes the AI does a fair amount of it for you now.
We also need to account for higher inflation and costs of living. While everyone might say things are looking better let's be honest a massive 3.7% average inflation rate across the last 25 years means that the last 22 years you've been losing money. You'd be better off investing that money, having bought a house instead of buying the paper from a college.
Having some money early and investing it into assets, stocks and savings can be MORE powerful then trying to make up for it later in life after paying off massive high interest debts. Yes a house is a debt as well but it's most likely an asset that's going to some what hedge against inflation while a paper from a college in all cases does not. This is because wages simply do not and have not kept up with massive inflation.
The Job Swap
It's often said and even my parents would constantly tell me this and it was true for some time that you would earn more money over your lifetime swapping jobs moving for promotion to promotion at different jobs instead of staying loyal to one job. Which id pretty dang crazy when you think about it. However that has pretty much eroded now as the jobs market continues to drastically change and rather quickly.
The once for sure benefits of this seem to have shifted to the point of where people are now called job huggers. As the cling on tot heir jobs thinking they are safer and will keep their job longer compared to hopping.
We can see this biggest contrast when we look at older generations in which most worked a single job all of their life and came out just fine including pensions and other benefits.
My Shift
Part of this is you'll see that my payouts here on hive for blog posts are now 100% powered up. This is because I personally feel in a few years that things like this will become one of the last ways to actually make any kind of substantial money. As fiat continues to be trashed left and right.
Content creation I feel will never be fully replaced by AI as personality, creativity, opinions and views are all human factors that can't be replicated by AI. Sure we might get there at some point but people still prefer human to human interaction. Well at least most of them.
Another shift of mine is now leaning towards land. I want it and I want a lot of it. But I want to start from the ground up so undeveloped land. Once I had a decent tract of land I'll most likely shift my blogging to that and hey maybe even do something like calling it hive land or something lol. We will have to see.
