what is good folks gonna keep it simple, not cute. Wanna talk about how “precious metals” mining is actually just ugly as hell most of the time, so let’s lift the velvet curtain, eh? Gold, silver, platinum they all sound pretty, but the whole process is basically “smash up mountains, add a ton of toxic soup, cross your fingers nothing leaks, and hope the price holds up.” That’s the real game.
First off, it’s loud, dirty, capital intensive, and super thirsty. For every little nugget of gold, you’re blasting, hauling, digging, then running water and chemicals through a mountain’s guts like it’s a juicer you found on Marketplace, except it actually poisons the river halfway through your town. Mercury and cyanide? Yeah, they’re not just Bond villain moves they’re tools of the trade, baby. All that stuff leaks out and trashes the water table for decades. When you see a lake that looks like a chemical spill sometimes it is.
You got tailings ponds massive, leaking pools of muck holding arsenic and whatever else they found down there. Those things break. When they do, it’s a dirty rug pull, fish are dead, entire towns have to play “is my water safe?” roulette. Oh yeah, let’s not forget deforestation and blowing up actual ecosystems. Not rare, not a “maybe.” It’s literally the plan level forests, toss aside the dirt, deal with the fallout if anyone asks loud enough.
But let’s keep it real, nobody’s shutting this down tomorrow. Gold and silver aren’t just “bling,” they’re in your electronics, bank reserves, industrial stuff. Paper money is jokes if you can’t trust the system, so physical assets stick around hype or no hype. The world runs on this grind, and folks looking for a shortcut end up with token scams or digital vapor.
All that talk about “green” mining? Sometimes it’s less waste, sometimes it’s just PR. Tech’s getting better, but still, mining burns up fossil fuels, leaves those weird open pit craters that look like somewhere you’d film Mad Max 5, and when the price drops, companies just bounce, leaving cleanup to the locals or whoever’s government feels like pretending.
Final take precious metals, yeah, you need ‘em. But if somebody tells you they’re ethical, carbon neutral, or painless, laugh ‘em outta the Discord. There’s nothing sustainable about pulling shiny rocks out of the ground just so someone can flex or hedge against fiat no matter how many solar panels they slap on the side of the mine. It’s dirty, always was, probably always will be. That’s just facts, eh.

@bitcoinman's bits of wisdom * Invest only what you can afford to lose and be mindful of the potential risks. * Unless you can accept delivery stay away from futures and stick to physical. * Leverage is a great tool for losing money fast. * Numismatics for the lows stick to smart stacking baby. * Be cautious of new schemes in crypto, like ICOs, DeFi, and NFTs, do your research before investing.
