I mentioned in a post last week that I unfollowed quite alot of people because they had not posted since 2024. There were a few names that stood out as witnesses who I kept following because I thought these guys are running the show so I don't want to miss out if they have anything important to say. I don't frequent Discord much but I know this is where most of the Hive governance takes place so I tuned into the witness town hall meeting on Wednesday to see if anything is coming down the tracks. This is the first meeting I have listened into since the Steem days and I was surprised just how quiet it was in there. There were more non-witnesses than witnesses but it wasn't like old times having 100 people listening. Many couldn't make it. That was fine. We all have lives to live. I only tuned in for a few minutes myself but the section I did hear was there were a couple of people bleating on that I have never heard of in my life before. I looked them up and one of them last posted in 2024 and haven't been seen on the blockchain all year. You would swear they were running the show the way they were going on. But maybe they are!
Now not many witnesses drop by my page. You should, I'm great craic, but the ones who do I vote for. You know who you are. For me the witness role is like that of a local election candidate. Vote for me please. Why? What are you going to do for me? If a witness interacts with the Hive Community I find that positive because they are in their constituency doing the work so to speak. They are present. Now I am not asking them to post daily , not even weekly but I do like to know if they have been around this year! What are they up to? What projects are they working on? When is the release date of your new game Lintersands? How did the conference go you were at? Was the meal nice? How many would you say you onboarded? Is this too much to ask? If they leave the blockchain then I can give some other Hive witness my vote and I say best of luck. Enjoy your life. No harm done.
Don't do it @blanchy , don't do it. You were doing so well this month. You were networking again and being nice to people. Don't make a table, don't upset the apple cart.

- 13 or 65% of the top 20 witnesses have 5 posts or less in 2025
- 19 or 38% of the top 50 witnesses have 1 post or less in 2025
- 8 or 16% of the top 50 witnesses have not commented in 2025
Shocking stats right there.
- In the top 20 only @ocd , @arcange, @themarkymark and @therealwolf have been posting on Hive consistently in 2025 (over 20 posts in 2025). Fair play to ye lads. Also hats off to @ocd , @oflyhigh ,@dalz, @edicted @solominer , @aliento , @hivebuzz, @detlev and @leofinance who post very regularly and make the rest of the witnesses look like an Uncle who left 20 years ago in a VW camper and left two kids behind him never to be seen again. sob

2 of the 5 users who have not posted since the famine(irish reference) have commented this year including one fellow Irish man @liketu. How's she cutting? From the woods of Glenbower to the river Dissour and all that. You haven't posted since the Emergency(another irish reference)!! What's up?!
Can anyone check if @jesta is still with us? Or has he turned into the new Japanese new travel authentication system? Last post was in 2019 and he is still a coveted top 30 witness.
Also @anyx last comment was 2 years ago. Have they left this world? As Murray once said on Flight of the Conchords. "They maybe did" . @anyx is 24th on the witness list. This raises a question about governance. Sometimes people tend to not change their votes so does this mean we will have ghost witnesses running Hive?? Long John Silver buried with all his HP. Cleopatra buried with her crown and gold? How does Hive handle a witnesses that has not been around for a long time if they have a large vote to make it top 30. We could be all sitting at a table with ghosts. I would not be a happy camper to be witness number 25 with a few ghosts ahead of me. What did you say? Actifit is witness number 25? Forget I said anything 🤣😜 but the point still stands. Only joking Mr tifit.

It's funny. I was under the impression @someguy123 was always around but you learn something new every day. Now I remember last year there was a big debate about the role of a witness. Some think their sole job is to secure blocks so you can go run and jump if they think I'm gonna do one of them post things for our blogging platform.
"Wash your dirty stinking mouth out @blanchy, I've a button to style in CSS tailwind this month, you bum".
Some like me think they should be present and a major part of the Community. This is why Witnesses point out what projects they are working on which is good. But I doubt the consensus is happy with them not being near the blockchain for 5 bloody years.
Is there not a responsibility on the Hive user to make sure that the witnesses are present and correct? I would have thought so. Especially witnesses voting witnesses , I would have thought there would be even more of a responsibility to do so.
Anyway this part is very important and we are coming to the end of yet another controversial but factual post. Can every witness that reads this post upvote it 100% please so I can tick you off as still being present on the blockchain and not dead. No exceptions, this is very important. It will be like a consensus of such that we will do every year. Thank you very much.
