I will always ask my dad, "dad why are u always waking up very early every morning to go to work",( kelvin dad looking at him with a smile on his face then said) because thats what real men do, men who were never opportune to leave a luxury life, men who there fathers never left any riches for them before the passed to the after life.
kelvin my son real men "rise up"and go to work in order for them to provide for there familys and give them the life there parents could never give (kelvin fathers voice echoed in there room which was almost empty with mat lying in the floor and a single table which had only an empty container of milk, which was a gift from there uncle in the town and the couldn't afford to replace it ever since it finished)
I was very confused and i looked at my father in curiosity cause i was just a boy and didn't know anything about life yet.
Life was not really fair to my dad cause he died shortly after i finished my primary 6, ever since than i had to go stay with my uncle cause my Mom couldn't afford to raise me, thats when i really understood what my dad meant when he said a man needs to "rise up"and work.
My uncle treated me worse than a servant and his wife called me names, and said alot of things a child of 10 years shouldn't be hearing, alot of times i considered running away, buh were will i run to?
To my mom who was even finding it hard to feed in the village or in the street of Lagos were things will get alot worse than it is now.
Its been said that any situation u can't change u should leave happily with it and maybe, just maybe faith might remember u and give u a better future, buh also just as my father will always tell me, heavens help those who help them self, I need to be industrious, "rise up" and go to work.
I struggled ngt and day, with my sweat and blood, I created my own empire with the legacy my dad left for me, which was buried deed inside my heart a reminder i could nvr forget and shaked my own family name out of the dust of poverty.
And even up till date no matter how much money i have made and kept for my children i still relate the same experience my father left for me down to my children and my gran children, cause no one knows were life may tack them tomorrow, no one knows how the are going to end up tomorrow,
So my advice to all my children still remains the same as what my father has always told me when i was just a boy, in oder for me for u, for all of us to get to our destination we should all,
"Rise up"
And get to work.
