Hello, friends, Today, we will forge ahead. We will be considering Past Perfect Tense including the usage.

Past Perfect Tense

The past perfect tense is used to show that an action took place before another action in the past.

According to Cambridge Dictionary, it is the form of verb that is used to show that an action had already finished when another action happened.

✅How To Use The Past Perfect Tense

Just like present perfect tense, the past perfect tense makes use of a helping verb. Here, the helping verb is ‘had’ but in the present perfect tense,it is ‘has’.

Notice also, that the past perfect tense makes use of past participle too. So, if you understood the present perfect tense, you will not find the past perfect tense difficult.

✅Formula: Subject + had+ past participle + the rest of the sentence.

Making Sentences 1. Hope had completed her homefun before everyone else started .

  1. My friends had left when my dad arrived.
