Today is a beautiful day to share my most recent pattern. In my previous post, I talked about my desire to start creating/free handing my patterns. Well, this is the first one I worked on after making that decision. ![IMG_2668.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/blezyn/23ywif1j53z5N2PnAoDHRnpmJqG2zNKaBGRQWtXrwAps1wkJnY4TjvuFA5VXNAHxJEUah.jpeg) One of the things I wanted to do was start with a simple pattern first before I started working on anything complicated. I did a bit of research to get some inspiration on what I wanted to do. After browsing through many patterns, I thought to myself “You know what, DC is as easy as it gets, let’s stick with that”. But of course, I wasn’t just going to do double crochet stitches all through, it had to have a little bit of spice, hehe. ![IMG_2676.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/blezyn/23yTmAtVquyt6yRMjmgU4jEZ3UkSYQE2hc9zwAJGi7Zvt1v1xu9VRuuU8bbgXQ5NR3dCt.jpeg) So, I settled for a DC/mesh mix kind of pattern. When I started, I didn’t exactly know what I was going to do or how and of course, there was a lot of unraveling until I found my flow. I hadn’t worked on a crochet shirt before, which is a bit shocking to me considering how many times I have made a sweatshirt. I guess it just didn’t occur to me. To be fair, my sweatshirt knowledge went a long way in making this project relatively easy. ![IMG_2809.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/blezyn/23vi5tSnQ6JtokGK67FZSsVocZG6HzUy9yGTZJ3MEkHwZ1BvPnnvxtWsMtp8h4a9PuiBX.jpeg) So I started with the back panel, I figured it would be easier since I only had to make a big rectangle with the same pattern, the color choice was easy, I wanted to work with a colour I hadn’t used in a while and cream seemed good but also I had it in mind to make this a set for 2( a man and a woman), that was when I got the bright Idea to make it for myself and my husband. So I needed a color to be the primary color for the woman and also suit the man. Light blue seemed perfect ![IMG_2805.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/blezyn/EpT64NTt9k5KgvhqEeMWgKakAPtpxo5v3w4zQ927CRdjw4BvsALjwATgDdpfhRP4gJ6.jpeg) I started with a working chain of 25 inches, the plan was for it to be 48 inches round, so 25 for the back and 11.5 for each side of the front piece. I had a little trouble figuring out how to fix that blue without it bleeding into the cream. To fix that, I just decided not to carry the yarn around and use separate yarn for them. Switching colors around the mesh side was a bit tricky but I found a way. ![IMG_2811.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/blezyn/23vi5wJ2s4wZEzr1qaGnztkeKTRtFj2deW5kxoaRNfyZ5XKBpHH9BorkFTpQUhQAyn6Wt.jpeg) After I completed all three panels, I joined them and started working on the sleeve which took a while because I wasn’t sure exactly how I wanted the sleeves to be or how to mix the colours so it didn’t look awkward. Eventually, I decided to just do only cream and see how it goes. That turned out well and I ended it with a row of single crochets in blue. I did the same for the color and there you have it, my first freehanded pattern. ![b2e0055b-b423-45ec-a074-40225e1dcb07.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/blezyn/23wgWayYa9xjwLkAN3f6kK6G4tdggbhb5ti5EZfdDATCvJe2Jt52D6gbPEAVAD82PHzgP.jpg) Here is the final result, I hope you like it. ![IMG_20240105_154724.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/blezyn/23xpD9Z6yCdXykrNowGqsFuPP4Garya4xuVxsP1NCHJMKP6NwTjYTnuGLH8CMdLaJ3ni5.jpeg) ![IMG_20240105_154714~2.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/blezyn/23w31jDQNz588R8vLorNSJLm2PG4SewqaoghunuRADPPkVfwYyUKKQRQr4UyBFy2tPHSE.jpeg) Thank you for stopping by❤
