BLINGIT STUDIOS – OCA On-Chain Air: A Quick Cup & a Ctrl+Z Moment - quite literally
Follow an Aussie ballet mum & artist as I paint a silly cup, and wish real life paint strokes had an undo button.
A Cup, a Canvas, and a Slightly Wonky Handle ☕
Hi guys — I know, I know… the cup handle is a bit dodgy.
But like I always say, these are 1-hour max paintings, and the precision needed for perfect ovals and symmetry is not exactly friendly to an injured hand.
So I’m leaving it as is.
Sometimes I go back a year later and tidy things up, but not today.
This one’s another 13 cm canvas, one of my lovely little ones that I still can’t find more of.
I plan to have another online hunt soon — surely someone’s hiding a box of them out there somewhere.
EDIT : since i wrote this at 8am i have since found some online and have ordered 60 more!!!
Mixing the Colours 🎨
The background is a mix of:
- White
- A touch of leftover Phthalo Green from yesterdays piece
- A bit of Ultramarine Blue
- And a dab each of Yellow Ochre and Burnt Sienna
For the foreground, I used:
- Ultramarine Blue,
- White, and
- Just a touch of Sienna to warm it.
Then came the cup itself — reds are tricky business.
You can’t just add white to tone them down (unless you want pink).
So instead, I used two different reds, with:
- Ultramarine and Dioxazine Purple to push the shadows, and
- A hint of Yellow (but not too much) in the lighter sections.
A few shadows at the front, and I called it done.
The Funniest Thing Ever 🤦♀️
I swear this actually happened — three separate times while painting this, I made a dodgy brush stroke and instinctively went to press Ctrl + Z to undo it.
Three. Times.
talk about (questioning my life choices) moments. OMG. WHAT an idiot.
You know that muscle memory from using Procreate or digital art programs?
Yeah. Turns out my hand expected my canvas to have an undo button.
Spoiler: it doesn’t. 😅
Wish it did though with this jolly hand... anyway.
A Busy Weekend Ahead 💃
This weekend is going to be hectic.
I’m helping run a disco at our dance school to raise funds for our end-of-year stuff, and we really need to finalise plans today and do the shopping.
Trouble is, I’m in total hyperfocus painting mode, which is not helping my productivity.
Even though I’ve got plenty to do — including painting tasks — I can’t quite summon the motivation.
You know that feeling?
At some point, I have to head to Spotlight to grab black fabric, throw multicoloured paint splatters all over it, and sticky-tape it to the windows as makeshift blackout curtains.
Nothing fancy, just functional… but I’m seriously dragging my feet.

Anyway, that’s today’s little cup painting done and dusted.
It might not be perfect, but it’s real, and it’s mine — brushstrokes, quirks, and all.
