Boring Background

I'm Blingit. An Aussie SAHM who spends my life at the ballet studio with my kids and in my spare time i paint.

I can be a bit on and off again with my art, fits of activity where i finish more paintings in a week that i do in 5 months at other times.

I had a hand injury 2 years ago that damaged the nerves in my painting hand. Its been a slow road and i think we are as good as we are going to get. It doesnt stop me painting, but it sure slows me down.

Today's Painting is - bought to you from a dramatic hail storm

Today i THREW a small canvas a quick palette and 3 brushes in the car while i knew i needed to wait at dancing for an hour for a child. (kids had a 1 hour cross over, so dropped one off and needed to wait 1 hour before i took the other one home...)

I sat down and was like... right 40 mins to a painting... so this i did EN PLAIN AIR.... however it was made up... HOWEVER i was painting a sunset with storm clouds... and BOY did i get storm clouds.

Remember that i was there for an hour... so in the time it took for me to paint... then the storm started coming in... it was very dramatic... the thick black clouds came in heavy. we could see distant thunder and lightening, the clouds moved fast. the wind picked up... then there was bolt lightening.

5 mins before my 6 year old was due to come out i went...nope.... not today... and threw all the gear in the car... including all bags and everything. knowing (as only queenslanders will know) that the storm was going to turn and turn fast and furious.

2 mins till my child came out of the studio and the sky went green.... NEVER A GOOD SIGN.

FUCK.... that means hail... and at this point my phone starts pinging for giant hail alerts...

just as my kid comes out of class. the wind gust nearly blew me over, i got a face full of dead leaves in my mouth. i grabbed the kid over my shoulder fire man style... with about 20m to the car... like seriously just over the road.. and by the time we got there. there was hail the size of golf balls boucing...

in retrospect... the car with a large panoramic glass sunroof was not the most ideal place to weather a giant hail attack... however... risking the run accross the road to a building would have been a bad plan too. so we waited it out.

my kid was SCREAMING in the back as golf ball hail pepper the car and windows.

Anyway we are fine... i got some GREAT footage for another painting!!!!

These photos don't do it justice (the storm that is) it was INTENSE... but as i said i have video of that disaster... so will post separate.
