A Quiet Walk

I don't know where this passion for the sea came from; perhaps it was because I didn't see it for the first time until I was 18 years old. Then the sea was synonymous with freedom. Maybe that's why it has remained a lifelong passion.

In early September, I saw the sea for probably the last time this year. The same place where I've been going for many years, Balchik, in Bulgaria. The sea is the Black Sea.

Everyone who learns of this habit of mine of going to the same place by the sea is surprised, and rightly so. There are so many places I could go, places I shall never see... and I don't even know what I'm missing! They're right, but there's an explanation. I found everything I needed in Balchik. The sea, which I can see and feel near me even when I can't see it. I gave up sunbathing and swimming, and I prioritized walking.

There are numerous places to walk in Balchik, and I prefer those that are far from the touristy side.

A little rest on the terrace, hidden among the greenery. Holiday pleasure.

Balchik is a small town that appears almost abandoned in certain areas, where tourists are scarce. I enjoy walking on these deserted streets and reminiscing about past times, as many of the buildings are over 50 years old.

There are also ancient buildings which, unfortunately, are no longer in use. The architecture is outstanding.

At the seaside, among the hotels, terraces, restaurants, and shops, a different atmosphere prevails, and a diverse crowd gathers. Tourists!

Since I visit there frequently and am familiar with almost every place in the city and by the sea, I no longer consider myself a tourist. I like to think of myself as a local.

A local seeking peaceful spots for a quiet walk!

I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words.

A wise saying goes that an image is worth a thousand words.

Everything depends on the beholder.

Make a point of looking around and up to see what you can find to get shots of that; otherwise, you may miss it.

This is one of the recommendations made by @tattoodjay for those who prefer walking and are used to sharing impressions and photos in his community, Wednesday Walk, every Wednesday, like this one today.
