The too-long abandonment of this blog is hopefully coming to an end. In the more than eight years I've spent here, it happened to me a second time to "desert". What seemed hard became very easy. It's hard to start... to stop being active. The routine of years of daily writing became a habit. After several days had passed, I began to taste the "freedom" and joy of having more free time.
I don't even know when this summer passed without Hive...
Now I hope for a fall... with Hive, even if the beginning will be harder.
I have to change something!
I need to simplify and ease the process, the way I finally managed to write and publish a blog. Initially, out of cluelessness, then out of enthusiasm, and later out of a desire to post something as well done as possible, I have made my work hard and time-consuming. Sleepless nights and an overloaded procedure:
- topic search
- developing the story
- selecting and editing photos
- final check before publication
All this cost me at least 6 to 8 hours of work, which is a significant amount of my free time.
It is really necessary to simplify. I'm giving up photo editing and will try to write as simply, straightforwardly, and as little as possible. I will include more photos, not only to save time, but also because my main interest in what I write is based on visuals and images.
I hope it works out!
Mostly, I write about traveling and walking, both in the city I live in and further afield, in places that I think deserve to be featured here. Since there are not many places to visit, I prefer to see them as often as possible, which will result in many blogs about the same places, ensuring that posts are not duplicated or rehashed. There will be the same places with different stories and, above all, other pictures.
There is another reason I want to resume my activity here, besides missing my colleagues who have become friends, and all my colleagues in Hive. I don't like it when Bucharest, where I live in Romania, is overlooked and missing from your attention and Hive posts...
And since I mentioned Bucharest, I will document a recent walk through the city center, both day and night, on a beautiful September day. **
I've lived in a big city for more than 60 years, the largest in Romania. Bucharest, which is also the capital of the country. You probably know that such cities are a mixture of good and evil, beautiful and ugly, and it depends on each person's ability to search and find what they need. Most seek the beautiful and the good, of course.
In general, the city center is where you find everything. I, who lives in the suburbs, can say that I travel in my city when I go downtown. I do that a couple of times a week, most often at the end of the week.
I've often come across something strange on one of the downtown boulevards. A car rally with tiny cars!
I don't know anything about it, and I wonder why these cars are allowed on the boulevard? They're probably registered and have the same rights as all the big cars.
I even noticed that there is a driver that shows the route!
Whatever the purpose of these rallies, they bring something new and attractive to the city's image. I like them.
The trip to my city was, this time, caused by a theater performance. I love theater, having seen many performances. My friendship with a well-known director helped me gain insight into the theater phenomenon from the inside, allowing me to attend numerous rehearsals and be invited to many premieres.
Now it was the premiere of Chekhov's The Wedding, directed by my friend.
The director is the lady dressed in black.
Now, because I know that my friend, the director, doesn't read my blogs, I can say that the show wasn't one of my best, but it had a good effect on me and made me see the city at night a bit, which I haven't done for a long time.
Lots of people on the streets, at the shows, at the terraces, walking and talking together.
This theater is within walking distance of the University Square, which is essentially the heart of the city.
In the University Square area, there are many important buildings, older or newer, each representing the era in which they were built.
My favorite, by far, not so much in terms of architecture, but especially in terms of importance and significance, is the National Theatre in Bucharest.
Both the theater and the taller, blue-lit building, which is a famous hotel, were built more than fifty years ago; neither is the oldest nor the newest. However, they were and are symbols of the city.
Still, home beckons. It wasn't a long walk, but it was a way to see the city at night and reminisce about the times when we were out on the streets. Almost every night... I lived near this place then.
It's been quite hard to compose this blog. I feel like an athlete who hasn't trained in a long time and has lost their breath for the next competition. I need to recover. I want to return to my old self again.
I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words.
A wise saying goes that an image is worth a thousand words.
Everything depends on the beholder.
Make a point of looking around and up to see what you can find to get shots of that; otherwise, you may miss it.
This is one of the recommendations made by @tattoodjay for those who prefer walking and are used to sharing impressions and photos in his community, Wednesday Walk, every Wednesday, like this one today.
