The title I chose from the #weekendengagement suggestions prepared by dear @galenkp for Christmas is The solitary Christmas gift.
Actually, I was very surprised when I saw the #weekendengagement suggestions in the morning and I think it is not a coincidence. I hope I will have the chance to give the gift I wish to the person I wish.
Because I have a very recent memory that I am still affected by and I wanted to share it with you.
Yesterday I went out to do some shopping for Christmas and as I was turning with my car, the light turned red and I started to wait.
I turned my head to the left and I saw a boy sitting on the ground and there were 3 policemen surrounding him and they were angry with him. And they were warning him to get up.
He was wearing thin old clothes, street dust on his face and his nose was red from the cold. We locked eyes with the boy as he slowly tried to get up from the piece of cardboard he was sitting on. He was so embarrassed by the looks around him. He was afraid to even lift his head.
I was so touched at that moment. I felt the cruelty of life in my bones once again. That look stabbed my heart like a knife.
I felt ashamed of everything I had, including the decorations I had bought for fun, the various foods and the comforts I had now. Why isn't life fair?
And with the honking of the car behind me, I came to my senses and had to continue on my way. In just one minute, what I saw and felt was so profound.
My only wish at that moment was to meet that boy again and at least make this Christmas the most beautiful. I will pass the same place many times and I really want to see him again and be able to help him.
I responded to the title "The solitary Christmas gift" without realizing it.
I want to give that beautiful child the gift of my means, even for one day, so that he can spend Christmas as he wishes.
My wish for the New Year
I wish for all children a just world, where they have a full stomach, a warm home and can fulfill their dreams.
