Do not be a stranger in your own place.
I could say that I am guilty. I haven't been able to travel around lately even around the province. The problem with me if ever I get the chance is that, I don't have the guts to do it alone. I love company when it comes to going out maybe to go on a roadtrip or eat out at a new popular food house or restaurant or just hang out somewhere.
There's even a place in town that I haven't really visited yet even if it is so accessible to the public. It is the Town's seaside park. It has been opened to the public quite sometime already but every chance I got to come see it, I let it slip away for countless personal reasons. As they say, if there is a will, there is a way. Maybe I lack the will and the interest.
But for today's #WednesdayWalk, let me share my first walk in a place that as a local, I shouldn't have missed. I shouldn't be a stranger to my own hometown, right?
I finally got the chance when I needed to have a pair of shoes fixed in a shoe repair shop which is located at the corner of the entrance to the seaside park. I pass by this area everytime I go to the market center, always wondering what's in there but never stopped to come and see.
But this time, it's a different story...
I walked to the entrance. The first structure that welcomes the eyes is a port terminal that is under repair. Though the port has not been operating yet, but due to weather disturbances, the building needs repair.

My impression while I am at the area is that this place is a great place to catch some fresh sea breeze in the morning while taking a walk or jogging. One can also opt to bike around this area. It will be safer for young kids to bike around here. There is a wide space to do it. If you come in the late afternoon, it would be perfect place to witness the mesmerizing sunset while listening to the gentle waves crashing to the shore.

Parking won't be a problem. There's a wide space for it.
Met these teenagers having a break from biking. I guess they pedaled quite a distance and chose to catch some air here and relax. It was around 3 o'clock in the afternoon and there weren't people except this couple of bikers and a store owner checking his stall.
A huge colorful signage is seen as you enter to the main park. As colorful as the letters of each words, I am reminded of my vibrant life living here for more than three decades. I have never been too far away from this place. Indeed, this is my place, my town and my forever home.
The food area are still closed since it's 3 o'clock in the afternoon yet. Later in the afternoon, these stalls will open to serve good food for people coming here.
There's a small stage covered with a dome-like structure. It's built in front of the food stalls where people can watch if there are performers on stage.
The dark clouds seemed to warn me of a looming heavy downpour but I continued walking though it felt like I was racing with time. Though it's the case, it add to the feeling of exhilaration.
I reached the children's playground. Popular movie characters for kids were painted on the walls. You'll definitely feel young again coming here.
Of course slide and swings for the kids.
See-saw and a beautiful view. If only I had someone with me walking here I might try the see-saw. There's always a kid in me that want's to come out. 😄
In front of the playground is a round fountain. But during the time, there wasn't any fountain running. It's just a pool of water.
Another interesting structure is a short bridge. I believe this bridge resembled a popular bridge but I just couldn't point it out. And oh! There's those dark clouds again that look ominous.
And for the best view, I directed my sight to the sea. Nothing beats the most natural view in the area, that is the sea. But look at that! I'd pee on my pants! Hahaha! Scary awesome! Look like some kind of sea monster is coming out from there.
I decided to leave the place and head to the market. I know it was going to rain soonest.
When I reached the entrance, it started to rain and I found shelter at the shoe repair shop.
After the walk, I can finally say I am no longer a stranger to my own town. I am glad to see some improvement to the town and makes me prouder as a resident.
