Hey everyone!

I was very fortunate to visit Lisbon with work a few weeks ago.

During down time and a day off I wanted to see as much of the city as I could!
Starting at Campo Pequeno Bullring to the north of the city, this area is where I spent most of my time. This huge building hosts, as the name suggests.. a bullfighting ring used in peak summer months for the chance maximum attendance.

More recently, a portion of the building has been repurposed and turned into a shopping mall. Outside of the bull fighting season, a performance theatre is added at the heart of it. Phantom Of The Opera was being set up as part of its tour.

It features four turrets perpendicular to each other and a red brick material with striking contrast to the metal roof.

Tuve la gran suerte de visitar Lisboa por trabajo hace unas semanas.

Durante mi tiempo libre y un día libre, quise ver la mayor parte de la ciudad posible. Comencé en la Plaza de Toros de Campo Pequeno, al norte de la ciudad, donde pasé la mayor parte del tiempo. Este enorme edificio alberga, como su nombre indica, una plaza de toros que se utiliza en los meses de verano, cuando la afluencia de público es máxima.

Más recientemente, una parte del edificio se ha reconvertido en un centro comercial. Fuera de la temporada taurina, se instala un teatro en el centro del edificio. En ese momento, se estaba montando la escenografía de El Fantasma de la Ópera, que formaba parte de su gira.

El edificio cuenta con cuatro torres perpendiculares entre sí y está construido con ladrillo rojo, que contrasta notablemente con el techo metálico.

The shadow of a turret roof was cast onto the neighbouring buildings. La sombra del tejado de una torreta se proyectaba sobre los edificios vecinos.

The arena was built in 1892, inspiration came from Madrid's largest bullfighting arena and projected in a neo-Arabic revivalist architecture.

La plaza de toros fue construida en 1892, inspirándose en la plaza de toros más grande de Madrid y proyectada con una arquitectura neomudéjar.

This huge citadel houses the state run bank and an office for a political party. Taking seven years to build, the exterior of the headquarters features unapologetic blank walls in brutalist style with minimal but tastefully arranged glass windows.

In 2002, Culturgest was allocated a small part- it is an arts and performance venue that has two theatres, exhibition space and conference rooms.

Esta enorme ciudadela alberga el banco estatal y una oficina de un partido político. Su construcción duró siete años, y el exterior de la sede presenta muros lisos y sobrios de estilo brutalista con ventanas de cristal minimalistas pero elegantemente dispuestas.

En 2002, se destinó una pequeña parte del edificio a Culturgest, un centro de artes escénicas que cuenta con dos teatros, espacio para exposiciones y salas de conferencias.

Found nearby is the Galveias Palace Library which has nice design elements too but is dwarfed by the bank building! Cerca de allí se encuentra la biblioteca pública, que también cuenta con bonitos elementos de diseño, ¡pero queda empequeñecida por el edificio del banco!
