Hi everyone!
Back with some more ancient history- after travelling from Ramsgate to Pegwell Bay, I continued south to the town of Deal. I was on the lookout for interesting locations along this part of the coast and came across the castle with its unique circular structure.
Turns out the beach here was once theorised to be a potential landing location used by Julius Ceasar at the beginning of his Britannic invasion. There is even a plaque laid in the middle of a grass area. In recent years, this idea has since been updated based on archaeological evidence found near Pegwell.
Seen below is the local lifeboat station, one of three within a few miles of each other in response to around a total of 2000 vessels being lost due to the shallow waters and sandbanks in the area.
The local pitch and putt really leaned into the Roman history!
Houses along the seafront.
Information board about numerous shipwrecks the area.
It was slightly too windy for the drone to fully capture a complete 360 sphere / mini planet but I hope you get an idea of what the town is like from these images!
Until the next time!
