Hey everyone!
I planned a trip to the Kentish countryside recently. On the way, I was looking for new places to go that were interesting.
Built in 1922, this disused rest stop called Tollgate Hotel located right next to a dual carriageway towards Canterbury was my first stop.
It has a series of apartments set away from a primary hub.
Private security in a white van is on site to keep explorers out. Based on what I could see, it could be quite a while until people come to stay there again.
Locally considered as an eyesore, it is scheduled for demolition.
Next I headed just a bit further south towards Rochester to a crossing over the River Medway. Originally two bridges were built - one road and one track but after a considerable increase in road use, a second road bridge was added.
Pub quiz fact: The fastest speed set by train in Britain was on this stretch of track by Eurostar in 2003 after reaching 208mph!
Lastly, I ended the day at St Andrews Lake ducking in and out of rain showers. This activity and sports centre is built on the banks of an old quarry. The area just outside is being regenerated into a series of housing estates.
A few individuals braved the stormy weather so I made sure to stay at a safe distance away.
Until the next time!
