Log on to my neighborhood watch group, where I see this as the Most Relevant post:
Then I see a top comment, saying THIS:
And my very first thought is, oh my gosh, we are going to witness the first AI-inspired arrest! ๐ฑ
Any rational person can look at these two photos and recognize that they bear hardly any resemblance to one another. The original photo shows shadows all along the suspect's jaw, which AI misinterpreted as a beard.
There are two things that are extremely unsettling about this situation. For one thing, an innocent security guard has already been implicated, simply for looking similar to the AI-generated photo. That is an extremely scary thought: how easily somebody can be accused of something they didn't do.
It is scary how easily people can mistake this for a real person -- I didn't even know that it was AI until I saw the comment! Some innocent man very well could be detained due to someone else's negligence.
Because, this is the second unsettling part: how nonchalantly the poster treated her error! "Hey, at least you can SEE the guy in the AI photo" -- yeah, except it isn't even the same person now! ๐ I can't believe the complete disregard people have of the possibility of ruining an innocent person's life!
We definitely need to start having our wits about us. I knew this would be one of the biggest issues we would face as a society: false implications due to AI. We witnessed the effects literally a MONTH after AI was released to the public, when people were making porn of female streamers and celebrities.
