Sometimes life gives you one window. Today, it was exactly 52 minutes during lunch, wedged between work calls and that creeping 5:30 p.m. darkness that’s currently ruling Belgium like a foggy overlord.
So I did what any mildly obsessive walker would do: laced up, ignored the clouds and the drips falling from them, and chased whatever light was left. The results? One walk. Cold hands. Damp shoes. 8500 steps. And three surprisingly calming photos of grey skies pretending to be dramatic.
Here’s the thing, October was officially the second gloomiest month ever measured in Belgium. And honestly, it felt like we were going for gold. But somehow, despite all that, nature still flexed. Leaves floated on glassy water like they were trying out for a painting. A single sunbeam fought its way through the clouds like it owed me money. The walking path whispered, “Go on, I got you.”
Was it magical? No. Was it necessary? Absolutely. And really absolutely!!!
Sometimes the only thing between you and a day lost to gray is one walk. Take it. Even if it’s cold. Even if it’s lunch. Even if it’s just one.
