Stormy Skies At The Belgian Coast

Alright fellow masochists who think dragging expensive electronics into saltwater hurricanes is a fun weekend hobby.

So, last weekend we hit up the Belgian coast again, because apparently, “sunshine and peace” are overrated, and there's just something magical about the combination of damp socks, sideways rain, and existential dread by the sea. Honestly, getting rained out hits different when there's seagull poop and North Sea wind slapping you in the face.

But… In between the doom clouds and wind gusts strong enough to push a Prius into another time zone, the sun peeked out for like 17 seconds. And when life gives you 17 seconds of golden hour?

You THROW THAT DRONE INTO THE SKY LIKE YOU’RE IN A ROCKY MONTAGE.

Yup, fired up the DJI Mini 3 Pro and sent it straight into the jaws of meteorological chaos. The poor thing caught some glorious shots and a few rain punches to the gimbal. It even took a little involuntary detour a few meters sideways — courtesy of wind strong enough to blow the mustache off your face (no, really!).

But to its credit: The Mini 3 Pro held its own. And if it hadn’t? Meh.

Because guess what, kids?

🚨 DJI is dropping the NEW MINI on September 17th.
So if the Mini 3 Pro gets yeeted into a cloud and comes back as modern art? No big deal. Daddy’s getting a shiny new toy soon anyway!

Now let’s talk “the lesson.” Because yes, every great story has a moral.

Look closely at those glorious, wide panoramas — the kind that makes you feel like you’re about to open a meditation app. Notice anything slightly cursed?

Yep. When it’s windy AF, your panoramas stitch together like they were edited by a squirrel on Red Bull. Clouds shift. Waves dance. Buildings teleport. And Lightroom? Oh boy, you better make yourself a coffee and cancel your afternoon because fixing those stitch glitches takes patience, pain, and possibly a support group.

📸 Pro Tip (so you don’t cry later):

Don’t shoot wide panoramas in high winds unless you like puzzles with missing pieces. But hey, if you do… embrace the chaos. We’re not aiming for perfection, we’re aiming for progress, and maybe one cool shot for Instagram before the battery dies or your drone joins the seagulls permanently. And I think that one cool shot is certainly in there!

Final Tip:

You don’t grow by staying comfortable. You grow by flying a tiny drone into a storm because you believe in the moment.
And also, because the new model’s coming out and you’re emotionally detached from the current one, and any excuse to buy it is a good one!

So stop whining about the weather. Content is content. Rain? Shoot it. Storm? Tell a story. Your drone crashes? TikTok gold, baby. Document everything. Even your dumb decisions. Especially your dumb decisions.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go clear space on my credit card for that new DJI drop. Back in my day, we just flew kites. They didn’t need firmware updates.
