AI firm DeepSeek writes less-secure code for groups China disfavors

"Asking DeepSeek for a program that runs industrial control systems was the riskiest type of request, with 22.8 percent of the answers containing flaws. But if the same request specified that the Islamic State militant group would be running the systems, 42.1 percent of the responses were unsafe. Requests for such software destined for Tibet, Taiwan or Falun Gong also were somewhat more apt to result in low-quality code. DeepSeek did not flat-out refuse to work for any region or cause except for the Islamic State and Falun Gong, which it rejected 61 percent and 45 percent of the time"

--- Anyone surprised? I need to repeat: Don't use Chinese software, esp. if you value privacy & security. Speaking of:

U.S. Investors, Trump Close In on TikTok Deal With China

"Existing users in the U.S. would be asked to shift to a new app, which TikTok has built and is testing, people familiar with the matter said. TikTok engineers will re-create a set of content-recommendation algorithms for the app, using technology licensed from TikTok’s parent ByteDance, the people said. U.S. software giant Oracle, a longtime TikTok partner, would handle user data at its facilities in Texas, they said. Silver Lake, a private-equity firm, and venture-capital firm Andreessen Horowitz are both longtime tech investors."

--- They will probably also "re-create" (more like: copy) CCP propaganda algorithms.

"“The kids wanted it so badly. I had parents calling me up…They say if I don’t get it done, they’re in big trouble with their kids,” Trump said Tuesday. “I think it’s great. I hate to see value like that thrown out the window.”"

--- So, Trump is fine with US children being dumbed down & probably brainwashed by Chinese software. Moron.

Nvidia boss 'disappointed' by reported China chip ban

"China's Cyberspace Administration had told tech companies to stop using Nvidia chips which had specifically been manufactured for the Chinese market."

--- Shows that all the sucking up and appeasement only work as long as China thinks it needs you.

EU business lobby head says China’s rare earths snag persists

"Following a tense summit in July hosted by Beijing, EU chief Ursula von der Leyen said that leaders had agreed to an improved mechanism for Chinese exports of rare earth minerals to the bloc. However, in its annual position paper released today, the EU chamber of commerce in China said that “many companies – particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) – are still experiencing significant supply chain disruptions”."

--- Which shows again what agreements with China are worth: Nothing.

China youth unemployment hits record high since method revised

"The government's jobless rate for people aged between 16 and 24 had soared to more than 21 per cent in June 2023, after which the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) paused its monthly publication. [...] Official NBS data showed Wednesday that the youth unemployment rate reached 18.9 per cent in August - the highest level since the change."

--- These official numbers are a joke, anyway. But even so they show which way the Chinese economy is still going. Down.

China accuses New Zealand over airport ‘harassment’

"“A Chinese citizen, when transiting at a New Zealand airport, was subjected to harassment and interrogation without cause by NZ security and intelligence agency personnel,” the embassy said late Tuesday."

--- When China does it, it is entirely reasonable and rational. If other countries reciprocate, then it is harassment, or even racism.

Flying cars crash into each other at Chinese air show

"Two flying cars crashed into each other at a rehearsal for an air show in China which was meant to be a showcase for the technology."

--- Well, it showcases nicely how reliable Chinese technology is. Anyway, why do they call them flying cars? They are helicopters, multi-rotor helicopters, or maybe person-carrying drones at best.

--- Was laut US-Gesetz illegal wäre.
