China bans foreign AI chips from state-funded data centers
"The Chinese government has issued guidance requiring new data center projects that have received any state funds to only use domestically-made artificial intelligence chips, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters. In recent weeks, Chinese regulatory authorities have ordered such data centres that are less than 30% complete to remove all installed foreign chips, or cancel plans to purchase them, while projects in a more advanced stage will be decided on a case-by-case basis, the sources said."
--- Looks like China is really opening up again after that great deal.
"Products from these Chinese companies already rival some of Nvidia's offerings, but they have struggled to crack the market."

Speaking of that great deal:

Beijing lifts some tariffs on US farm goods but soybeans remain costly
"The tariff cut nonetheless leaves Chinese buyers of U.S. soybeans facing tariffs of 13%, a cost traders said makes U.S. shipments still too expensive for commercial buyers compared to Brazilian alternatives. "We don't expect any demand from China to return to the U.S. market with this change," said one trader at an international trading company. "Brazil is cheaper than the U.S. and even non-Chinese buyers are taking Brazilian cargoes.""
--- Chinese promises... Will the CCP keep one for change?

EU, China created special channel to ensure rare earth supplies, commissioner says
"The European Union has established a "special channel" of communication with Chinese authorities to secure the flow of rare earth materials vital for EU industries, EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic said on Wednesday."
--- China is clearly impressed by that great European show of force. I'm sure rare earths will flow freely again soon. Well, maybe not:

Europe probes Chinese bidder in Lisbon railway project over possible market distortion
"Based on a preliminary inquiry, the Commission said it found that the Portuguese unit of the Chinese rolling stock manufacturer might have benefited from foreign subsidies in its participation in an April bid to build Lisbon's new "violet" line"
--- The CCP will probably be very unhappy with this totally unfair investigation.

Taiwan says China ignoring requests for information on new airport safety concerns
"In a written statement sent to Reuters, Taiwan's Civil Aviation Administration said that airports close to each other need detailed advanced planning and coordination to ensure smooth operations and safety. The administration has requested that China, via existing liaison channels, provide planning information to assess the impact of Xiang'an Airport on Kinmen Airport, it said. "However, the relevant Chinese civil aviation authorities have not provided any information to us to date,""
--- The CCP doesn't really care about aviation security, only about establishing its dominance.

China is the new science power: How will Europe respond?
"China is also in the lead in terms of scientific publications. According to the latest G20 Research and Innovation Report, almost 900.000 scientific publications originate from China, which amounts to a threefold increase compared to 2015. In the Nature Index, which evaluates the 150 most important medical and natural science periodicals, China has long since overtaken the US. Among the ten leading institutions, whose publications in periodicals are evaluated by the Nature Index, seven are Chinese institutions."
--- Meh, Nature is among the bigger china shills out there, so they cannot be trusted. The mere number of publications doesn't say much, because much of it in China is copied or faked, and you never know what is really scientific news.
