Working mostly through deterrence, the bloc’s so-called trade bazooka seeks to prevent foreign powers from pressuring European countries — but only foresees action as a last resort. “It’s the usual sabre rattling from the usual subjects, but activating the ACI is not seriously under consideration at this stage,” said one EU diplomat, who was also granted anonymity. Asked whether the EU executive is looking at the ACI, the Commission’s deputy chief spokesperson Olof Gill said: “Right now we’re focused on engagement, and we’re not going to go down the road of speculating about any other possibility.”"

China Im dritten Quartal: Stabile Wirtschaft, bröckelnde Realität

"Hinter Chinas stabilen Wachstumszahlen im dritten Quartal zeigt sich eine fragile Realität: Sinkende Immobilienpreise, schwache Investitionen und ein künstlich gestützter Konsum."

--- Die Realität ist natürlich noch wesentlich negativer als es die offiziellen Zahlen andeuten. Es gibt kein stabiles Wachstum, eher handelt es sich um eine Rezession.

"infolge des Handelskrieges lassen die Investitionen in das Anlagevermögen stark nach und erreichten in den ersten neun Monaten nur ein Wachstum von -0,5 Prozent im Jahresvergleich. Besonders private Firmen in China investieren 3,1 Prozent weniger. Der Staat hingegen schraubt seine Ausgaben für Infrastruktur und Energie hoch. Dies stellt den ersten negativen Wert seit über 25 Jahren dar und ist ein klares Indiz für zurückhaltende Investitionen."

"Der professionelle Sektor zeigt ein ähnlich schwaches Bild. Mittlerweile verzeichnen die Städte einen Leerstand zwischen 20 und 40 Prozent. Die glitzernden Fassaden der Großstädte gleichen potemkinschen Dörfern. Sie sind lediglich leere Fassade, die Reichtum simuliert, nicht symbolisiert."
