At least 10 die in northwestern China after flash floods

""From August 7, continuous heavy rain... has triggered flash floods. As of 3:30 p.m. (0730 GMT) on August 8, 10 people have died and 33 are missing," state broadcaster CCTV reported"

--- & we are of course supposed to take official numbers as real?

"Last month, heavy rains in northern Beijing killed 44 people"

--- Case in point: This is the official number after the 2nd day of floodings around Beijing, incl. 31 people from one care home alone. No updates after the 2nd day, although the floodings continued & you usually find numerous victims from landslides & from being carried away by the waters only much later.

China's July consumer prices flat, factory-gate prices miss forecast

"The consumer price index (CPI) was flat year-on-year in July, compared with a 0.1% rise in June, National Bureau of Statistics data showed on Saturday [...] The producer price index (PPI) fell 3.6% year on year in July, missing economists' forecast of a 3.3% slide. It fell 3.6% in June too, which was the lowest since July 2023"

--- Again, official numbers. The boom continues.

China’s July exports top expectations, rising over 7%; imports record biggest jump in a year

"Imports rose 4.1% last month from a year earlier, marking the biggest jump since July 2024, according to LSEG data. The data also indicated a recovery in import levels following June’s 1.1% rebound. Economists had forecast imports in July to fall 1.0%, according to a Reuters poll. On a year-to-date basis, China’s overall exports jumped 6.1% from a year earlier, while imports fell 2.7% [...] July’s export declines were largely offset by shipments diverted to alternative markets such as Southeast Asia, which increased 16.6%, while imports fell 5.8% from a year earlier. China’s exports to the European Union also rose 9.2% while imports fell 1.6%."

--- Great jumps... Phhh... Anyway, it has to be repeated: official numbers.

"China’s factory activity unexpectedly deteriorated to a three-month low in July, with the official manufacturing purchasing managers’ index falling to 49.3 from June’s reading of 49.7"

--- Must be because the exports are doing so well.

Trump calls for Intel boss to resign immediately, alleging China ties

"President Donald Trump has called on the head of US chipmaker Intel to resign "immediately", accusing him of having problematic ties to China."

--- Funny, that: When Musk & Trump were good buddies, he was not that concerned with Musk's ties to China.

""The CEO of INTEL is highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately. There is no other solution to this problem," Trump wrote."

--- Meanwhile, the highly conflicted moron Trump allows Nvidia to export more to China again: US licenses Nvidia to export chips to China after CEO meets Trump, FT reports

China tells brokers to halt endorsements of stablecoin

"While crypto trading is banned in mainland China, brokerages have received a wave of requests for information on stablecoin and digital assets from Chinese investors since Hong Kong passed a stablecoin bill in May, sources at the brokerages say. Some major brokerages received guidance from market regulators in late July and earlier this month pushing them to discontinue publishing research notes and making public comments on stablecoins, the sources said."

--- Just another sign that occasionally popping up 'news' about China considering legalising crypto-currency are just bullshit.

China warns Philippines ‘playing with fire’ after Marcos signals role in Taiwan conflict

""We will have to go in there, find a way to go in there, and find a way to bring our people home." There are some 200,000 Filipinos in Taiwan, according to the Manila Economic and Cultural Office, the de facto embassy of the Philippines in Taipei. Beijing reacted strongly saying the Philippines had “kept making wrong and provocative remarks and actions, kept fudging and hollowing out the One China Principle, and kept harming China-Philippines relations”. "

--- As expected. Yawn ...

"The curators of the exhibition fled the country after officials from the Chinese Embassy and Thai police visited the museum, according to Reuters and one of the censored artists, trans Tibetan artist Tenzin Mingyur Paldron, who goes by the moniker Doc Tenzin."

--- Looks like Thailand is slowly becoming a CCP bootlicker.

Alarm in China that efforts to control Chikungunya virus are infringing on rights

"A single mother living in Zhanjiang, a port city in Guangdong province, posted a video on social media this week showing a group of people, including a uniformed police officer, entering her children’s bedroom in the middle of the night and taking blood samples from the boy and the girl, without their mother’s presence or consent. The mother had been working a night shift so was not at home. According to Chinese media, a local pharmacy had reported the family to the health authorities after the son had presented with a fever."

--- Emperor Xi's China at its best.
