Let's get this out of the way first, I am not even going to try and guess what the markets are going to do this week/weekend. Between the dip, then the recovery, then the dip again, I would have thought alt-season might finally be right around the corner, but who honestly knows. Instead, I'm going to talk very little about cryptocurrency in this post and focus on some more tangible assets as well as traditional finances in general.
I was sitting at my computer last weekend logging into the online site for one of the credit unions that @mrsbozz and I are members of. It occured to me how quickly things have changed in a relatively short amount of time.

The image above might not look like much to you, but that's "the bill box". For years, every other Friday I would bring that box into work with me and I would carve some time out of my daily routine to pay the bills. Each bill we got in the mail through the week would find its way into the bill box along with our checkbook and some other documents.
As I said, every other Friday we would get paid and then I would go through the bill box writing checks for each of the bills that we had accumulated since the last payday.
Now however, the bill box has pretty much been untouched for probably two years now. I can't remember the last time I wrote a physical check. I remember Friday nights when I was a kid with my mom and dad sitting in our home office going through their finances and paying the bills in the same way.
My dad has always been into tech though and while other people were still hand writing their checks, he was using probably the very first version of Quicken to print out their checks.
Like I said, it's crazy just how much things have changed. I can now pay pretty much any bill I want from my computer, what seemed like futuristic risk taking in the past is now commonplace. It's crazy!

But wait! You mentioned a treasure hunt!?
That's right! If you live in the US, have I got some news for you! The other day I got an email from my local bullion store Kzoo Bullion where they were announcing a new contest they are running.
For the next month and a half, one of the employees is traveling the 48 contiguous United States and hiding a 3 oz .999 silver bar in each of those states. Along with the silver bar is a QR code. If you scan that QR code and fill out the information, you will then be entered into a drawing to win a 1 kilogram .999 silver bar.
That's a 1 in 48 chance of winning 1 kilo of silver!
Pretty awesome right. Unfortunately, as you might imagine given the huge distances in the US, the gowing is pretty slow getting them all placed. In fact, after the Wisconsin bar was placed, it was located by someone within five hours. The Minnesota bar... located within 3.5 hours of being placed. Given the fact that Kzoo is based out of Michigan, I have little hope of acquiring that bar.
If you live in one of the other states though, you might have a chance!
You can follow the progress of the contest via this link. It looks like North Dakota has already been found as well. It would seem people have caught on and are really keeping track of this. It might be a bit of a race to get there first when he comes to your state. Good luck!
SMR
Finally, I just wanted to write quickly to say that my favorite nuclear stock NuScale (SMR) hit another all time high earlier this week at close to $55. Still not a bad investment at an entry point of $10 per share when the IPO went live.
I have a number of people who jumped into this one with me at the same time and they aren't mad at all about where we are now. If only I could predict things like this more consistently...
You have to remember, I'm the guy who sold his AMD and NVIDIA stock back in 2005 or something like that. Totally kicking myself over that now!
I hope everyone has a great weekend and best of luck if you head out looking for one of those silver bars. Remember to be safe and if you post about it, be sure to tag me and I will definitely upvote your post!
