When people talk about "Pain-body" , this is what they actually mean. It is like all the frustration , baggage , that we carry around and then when some one pokes it by just a little annoyance, everything wakes up and we tend to act more than required. ![michael-heise-HjTF52J2arI-unsplash.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmRLLMPL1nmAhYuMoGFZJzyLZsF35D6RGn6JGD6iq7xyut/michael-heise-HjTF52J2arI-unsplash.jpg) [source](https://unsplash.com/photos/a-person-with-the-hand-on-the-face-HjTF52J2arI?utm_content=creditShareLink&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=unsplash) Think about a couple arguing over dirty dishes. It’s not really about the dishes. One of them blows up, yelling and slamming things, but what’s underneath might be years of feeling ignored or unappreciated. The sink just happens to be the spark. Or let us say that you are at work, maybe your boss gives you a small piece of feedback in a way that is unusual. The best thing to do is to brush it off or learn from it, but then you feel attacked, like someone is actually out there to hunt you. In some cases , is not usually about what your boss did, it might be as a result of some old wounds getting stirred up. ![aleksandra-besedina-ohAcXf_Ee5c-unsplash.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmWkb3N9E2zKx1N2T6Cxr82J3W9chULtya2a5EU8sG8DZj/aleksandra-besedina-ohAcXf_Ee5c-unsplash.jpg) [source](https://unsplash.com/photos/woman-in-white-knit-cardigan-ohAcXf_Ee5c?utm_content=creditShareLink&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=unsplash) The tricky part is, if we don’t notice it, the pain-body runs the show. We react, we regret, and the cycle keeps going. But the second you spot it,like, “oh wait, this anger feels old, this isn’t just about right now”it already loses some power. Awareness puts space between you and the reaction. Then lastly, let us adopt the habit of letting go,let us learn to call the past, the past, holding on it can really affect our psychological health and make us behave in an unstable manner. Next time you feel that surge rising, try to pause. Take a breath. Instead of snapping back, just notice it: “This is my pain-body showing up.” That little moment of awareness can be the first real step toward breaking free.
