Silent is something most of us hardly give much thoughts to, silence is something that feels uncomfortable in the world of today. Whenever it feels like everywhere is quiet, the next thing we do is to reach out for our phones , or play loud music, or maybe start discussing with any person available in other to fill this space.
One of the things that i have notice recently is that silence is far from emptiness. That peace, clarity, and a deep sense of presence which can not be given to us by constant noise.

Let us say that a gorup of stidents are about to start an exam, A good and sensible teacher will actually let the room sit in silence for a few seconds before students begin their exam.
At that point of extreme silence , the nervous energy felt by most students settles down, slow breathing which now leads to a more focused mind. You see those few quiet moment , they have the potential to calm the mind.

Some arguments and resentments could have been avoided if silence was given a chance to create an understanding.
We can also adopt this on a personal level, if you think that you are passing through a lot in life, a little moment of silence can keep you grounded. Even for a short while , sitting calm without any distractions can give your mind that chance to rest. It is at this quiet moment that we actually notice those things that we sometimes overlook. Among them is the simple feeling of gratitude.
When you learn to welcome silence, it feels like learning to take not just a deep breath, but a deeper one.
Effort is not required , it is just willingness. Start small wont be that hard, just some quiet moments or walks without conversation, without headphones , without checking your phones. Even before reacting to to a heated or demanding ,moment , you can actually pause for a while and take a deep breath.
Silence doesn’t take anything away from us. Instead, it gives us back our presence, our patience, and our peace.
