Are We Having A Tough Time Accepting Reality In 2025?

@brennanhm · 2025-08-12 00:06 · Reflections

A lot of people have been noticing that the world totally changed over the past five to ten years, almost to the point where it has become completely unrecognizable.

They are saying that the people have lost their "spark," and that everyone is glued to their smartphones, more selfish, less cordial, "zoned out", and that things just feel "weird" in general.

Have you noticed something similar, or is this just the opinion of a small "crazy" pocket of the Internet?

Some go so far as to say that we may be in the end times as predicted by Revelations in the Bible, and that Jesus is the only salvation. Others think that a black hole opened in 2012, or that we entered into a different dimension after 2020.

If our reality has in fact changed, what could be the cause of it? Was it the mass adoption of smart phones and social media over the past decade? Was it the plandemic, enforced wokeness, or something else?

Denial and Coping

Generally speaking, humans don't like change. When changes come one after another in rapid succession most people are blind-sided, unable to adapt, and enter into a state of denial.

It would seem that most people are still in denial of the changes happening in today's society - social isolation, draconian government policies, mass migration, wokeness, etc.

They act as though everything is okay, and that nothing major is happening. When you try to discuss the changes and their ramifications on society you get shutdown fast.

This denial could simply be a coping mechanism, because accepting the new reality would be too traumatic for a lot of people.

Adjusting to Changes

It takes some time for the population to adjust to sudden changes.

For example, since 2022 the streets of San Salvador have become safe thanks to a swift crackdown on gang violence. That said, most citizens still remain paranoid about crime.

Meanwhile, the streets of Paris have become unsafe due to soft stance on crime, but almost everyone still considers it to be a safe country.

Just like changes in crime, it will take time for the majority of the population to acknowledge the results of smartphone adoption, mass immigration, wokeness, and oppressive government policies.

Social Media Bubbles

We cannot deny the existance of social media algorithms that feed you more of whatever content you choose to interact with. Therefore, we must consider that the people who are noticing this new reality may have had their perspectives influenced by these algorithms.

Until next time...

Have we entered into a new reality in the past 10 years? If so, it would seem that the majority of the population is oblivious to it.

If you choose to accept the new reality rather than deny it, you will probably feel a sense of loneliness in the masses, but at least you will be able to find others on the Internet who have also acknowledged the truth of what is happening today.
