Back around the year 1800, there were only 1 billion people on the planet.
Now, just two hundreds years later, we are close to 8 billion and (supposedly) climbing.
Is this "hockey stick" trajectory of human population growth sustainable? If not, what might the powers that be do to reverse it?
Agent Smith
The topic of exponential human population growth always reminds me of a famous scene from The Matrix, in which Agent Smith expresses a revelation he had:
I'd like to share a revelation I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to another area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You are a plague, and we are the cure.
A rather provocative message, but is he wrong?
Unlike, say, wolves or deer, whose populations self-regulate through predation or starvation, humans bypass those limits with technology, medicine, and infrastructure.
The discovery of oil in the 1800s played a huge role.
Oil's Role
This human population explosion would not have been possible without the discovery of oil. Derived from oil are the fertilizers, fuels, herbicides, and pesticides that are all used in the mass production and distribution of food to sustain our population.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective), we have been running out of cheap and easy-to-access oil, which means 8 billion people may not be sustainable for much longer. Especially if everyone wants to eat meat and travel.
Population In Decline
The low fertility rates in countries like Japan, South Korea, and Germany indicate that the centuries-long trend of human population growth may be reversing.
Perhaps the powers that be have decided that there are in fact too many people on the planet, and that the global population needs to be reduced, or "culled."
What kind of policies would you push to curtail the world population?
-
Encouraging women to chase careers instead of raise families
-
Introduce drugs like hormonal birth control and make them easily accessible
-
Push transgender ideology, encouraging boys to become girls and vice versa
-
Push the message that it's not only acceptable, but cool to be a gay person who doesn't reproduce
-
Mandate a "vaccine" that slowly kills people off or makes them infertile. (How many women complained of menstrual issues after taking the jab?)
Until next time...
As they say "what goes up, must come down", whether naturally or on purpose.
Is the exponential rise of the human population over the last 200 years sustainable? If not, how do we bring it back into equilibrium with the planet?
Or have "the men behind the curtain" already started executing their plan?
We may be witnessing not only the controlled demolition of western culture, but the culling of the population as well.
