Esto de las supersticiones, es algo con lo que los venezolanos hemos nacido; creo que va de generación en generación. Crecí oyendo infinidades de supersticiones, entre las más populares, están como que el novio no debe ver a la novia con su vestido de boda antes de casarse, porque es de mala suerte o el dejar caer un espejo y que se vuelva añicos, significan 7 años de mala suerte y así muchísimas más supersticiones. Una de las supersticiones que más recuerdo en mi familia de niña, era la de poner dos cuchillos en cruz en medio del patio de la casa, eso sí, en tierra, nada de cemento o algo así. Mi abuela, cada vez que no quería que lloviera, corría a la cocina, buscaba sus cuchillos y con una ininteligible oración que solo ella sabía, los colocaba en cruz en medio de la tierra y raramente no llovía; alguna vez le pregunté qué decía y nunca me quiso compartir su secreto, je, je, je. Otra que también, le observe a ella, fue que cuando recibía una visita indeseada, ponía la escoba de la casa atrás de la puerta con el cabezal hacia arriba y, como cosa rara, al poco rato la persona se despedía y se iba... Otra superstición que había en la familia, era que no se debía pisar nuestra misma sombra porque te pisas tu propia suerte. Y si había una época especial, donde las supersticiones se hacían más presentes, en la familia, era en Semana Santa. En esos días había que acostarse temprano, nada a deshoras, pues mi abuela decía que los espíritus en pena andaban sueltos... [Fuente/ Source](https://pixabay.com/es/illustrations/bruja-horror-arte-brujer%C3%ADa-oscuro-7360432/) Y así como otras creencias y supersticiones más; en ese tiempo, por si a las moscas no me atrevía a cruzar esas líneas, sobre todo en cuanto a las supersticiones o creencias en los días santos, aunque esas hoy en día las sigo teniendo, por lo menos algunas, como acostarme temprano, mantenerme en oración, nada de peleas o discusiones entre otras, pero ya hoy en día, aplico estás más por respeto, que en sí por las propias supersticiones. Actualmente, ya no soy de las personas que se guían por estas prácticas, poco a poco fui dejando estas de lado, aunque mi madre ha mantenido algunas de ellas, de vez en cuando; pero personalmente he tratado de vivir mi vida, sin estar pendiente si derrame el salero en el piso o si se me quebró mi espejo; me ha pasado y simplemente limpio y recojo la sal y voy a un comercio y compro un nuevo espejo, no le doy importancia a estos eventos y la vida sigue normal. Soy de las personas que cree más en las energías, en la espiritualidad de las personas, en Dios; que si creo que existe un mundo espiritual, sí, más, sin embargo, me enfoco en vivir en muchos aspectos, con prudencia, respeto, por las costumbres y creencias de los demás, aunque yo definitivamente no las comparta; porque para mí solo hay una verdad y es que quien está con Dios, nada le falta ni le sobra, todo está en su justa medida y todo es para bien. Superstitions are something Venezuelans are born with; I think they are passed down from generation to generation. I grew up hearing countless superstitions, among the most popular being that the groom should not see the bride in her wedding dress before the wedding because it is bad luck, or that dropping a mirror and shattering it means seven years of bad luck, and many more superstitions like these. One of the superstitions I remember most from my family when I was a child was placing two knives in a cross in the middle of the courtyard of the house, but on the ground, not on cement or anything like that. Whenever my grandmother didn't want it to rain, she would run to the kitchen, find her knives, and with an unintelligible prayer that only she knew, she would place them in a cross in the middle of the ground, and it rarely didn't rain. I once asked her what she said, but she never wanted to share her secret with me, heh heh heh. Another thing I observed her do was that when she received an unwanted visitor, she would place the broom behind the door with the head facing up, and strangely enough, after a short while, the person would say goodbye and leave... Another superstition in the family was that you should not step on your own shadow because you would step on your own luck. And if there was a special time when superstitions were more prevalent in the family, it was during Holy Week. During those days, you had to go to bed early, nothing at odd hours, because my grandmother said that the spirits in torment were on the loose... And so were other beliefs and superstitions; at that time, just in case, I didn't dare cross those lines, especially when it came to superstitions or beliefs on holy days, although I still have some of them today, at least some, such as going to bed early, keeping up my prayers, no fights or arguments, among others, but nowadays, I apply them more out of respect than because of the superstitions themselves. Nowadays, I am no longer one of those people who are guided by these practices. Little by little, I have left them behind, although my mother has kept some of them from time to time. Personally, I have tried to live my life without worrying about whether I spill the salt shaker on the floor or break my mirror. It has happened to me, and I simply clean up the salt and go to a store and buy a new mirror. I don't give importance to these events, and life goes on as normal. I am one of those people who believes more in energies, in people's spirituality, in God; I do believe that there is a spiritual world, yes, but I focus on living in many ways with prudence and respect for the customs and beliefs of others, even if I definitely do not share them, because for me there is only one truth, and that is that those who are with God lack nothing and have no excess, everything is in its proper measure, and everything is for the best.
