There are some things that no matter how much we learn about them, no matter how hard we prepare for them, until we get to experience them, we’d never really know what exactly it will take from us. And this goes for life-changing decisions that many times, we find ourselves putting off simply because we’re scared of what the future would hold and how things would turn out when we finally make that decision.
There can also be an issue with procrastination, which is something that may be misconstrued for its real reason. Sometimes, we procrastinate, not because we’re being lazy, but because we’re scared of actually starting something that could change our lives forever. So, we keep putting it off, hoping that somehow, life would make the decision for us.

But then, as I said earlier, preparing for something doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re ready for it. Sometimes, the only way to equip you for the battle is to throw you right into the battle. You could read all the books on parenting, you could ask for advice from all the parents you know in your neighborhood, and they will share it with you. Yet, you still won’t have enough data to work with until you eventually become a parent yourself.
It also happens in school. Before you gain admission, you’re told so many things. How to act, what to do, things to do. You’re basically ‘equipped’. But then, when you actually get into the school, many times, that advice doesn’t come in handy and judging from the situation on ground, you find yourself making more informed decisions based on what you think is right, not necessarily what you were advised.

You see, the thing is that most life-changing decisions are different for everyone, and the experiences always vary. That’s why two people can go through the same ordeal and come out totally different people. And we won’t know what exactly we’re up against if we don’t get into the system first and make up our own minds. That’s what’s most important!
So now, what should we do? The hesitancy to make decisions, that fear of how things could go wrong, hence the need to keep preparing and preparing for a future that we’re scared to bring to life… we need to just stop. There are usually only a few things we need to have in place, and most of the time, we already have them. We just let fear keep weighing us down. And that shouldn’t be the case. We should just do what we want and grow from there.

If not, if you keep staying on the outside, learning and preparing but never actually doing, we’ll be the most prepared who never actually does anything. It’s just like learning to drive a car, you’ve read all the manuals, watched all the tutorial videos, gone to all the physical lessons. You’ve even gotten your certificate of completion and your license, you also got an award for being the best student of the year. Yet, you’re still scared to get into the car. Anything can go wrong, so you keep learning and learning. And meanwhile, you just never get into the car, despite all the knowledge you’ve acquired.
We need to learn to just do things. Even if we don’t have the full picture, let’s just get in. if they work out, good and fine. And if they don’t, we can at least know that it’s not for a lack of trying. Well, let’s see how it goes.

Thank you for reading. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below, I would love to know what you’re thinking. Till we meet in the next post.
