Health is one of the most important parts of our lives. If we’re not careful, we could mess it up real bad. And oftentimes, our health could be messed up, and we won’t even realize it. When we do realize it, we might not be able to tell when exactly it started to go wrong. Health is fragile, and something as basic as eating the wrong food or having a bad habit could spell doom for your health.
This is why we all must be intentional about it. No matter what, we never leave anything to chance because that’s when things will have the ability to go terribly wrong. And we can’t afford that. Health is wealth indeed, and in this case, prevention will always be way better than a cure. It’s better to go out of your way to avoid getting sick than to be caught off guard.
Sadly, health is not just limited to our physical bodies, our mental health is also a key factor because they’re basically both sides of a coin. One will always affect how the others are operating. An injury or pain in the body will definitely have a toll on your mind, the same way a bad or hurtful experience will make you weak and unable to do much.
We all know the basics to do when our physical health is involved, and we know the things to do to avoid getting sick. While doing all these doesn’t guarantee that we’ll never fall sick, it also shows that we know what we’re doing and we also know how to act in the event that we actually do end up falling sick. One way or the other, we’re prepared.
However, it’s quite different from the mind. You see, I believe that mental health is something that has been slept upon, and that’s just bad. In this world today, where many people are doing things they don’t enjoy just to get by, so many people are unhappy, so many people are going through so much with little to no support system. These things tell on the mind, they affect us in ways that we don’t know. And if you’re one of those who keep things to yourself and don't share what’s bothering you, bottling things up could end up doing more harm than good.
We’re all going through stress, and many of us have deep-seated pain and heartbreak brewing inside us. We have it all, but we can’t do anything because, however we feel, we still have to turn up. We still have to provide for the family, we still have to be present for our kids, we still have to smile at the customers and at our bosses so they don’t give us the boot.
Once in a while, it’ll always be best to think of yourself and do something that’ll benefit only you. Take time off work, go on that vacation, and have that fun. Do things that you’ve always wanted to do because you won’t always have the time. These memories will help to hold you up, reminding you that you sure had a great time.
With everything we go through on a daily basis, many of us don’t put effort into taking care of ourselves. This is something that we have to make paramount because if you don’t prioritize your mental health, no one else will do it for you. That’s just the cruel truth.
