Sometimes, when I think about the things that are happening in the world today, I can’t help but theorize that it's all a calculated move by Mother Nature. However far back you choose to go, there have always been instances where humans will go to war with each other, and the death toll would be massive. Even before the First World War, there had been leaders who were also obsessed with power, they sought to get it by any means necessary.

And most of the time, this “any means necessary” usually meant war. Launching wars on people, over things that no one should ever have to die over. You’d find them fighting over land, oil, gold… meanwhile, all this would only be sought for by the few, while the vast majority simply want to be allowed to live their lives in peace. Why is that so hard?

If you go as far back as the era of Genghis Khan, when the famed soldier had the entire world in a chokehold. There are reports that Khan was such a formidable king and he went to so many wars that he’s responsible for reducing the world’s population by nothing less than 10% (at the time). 10% might sound small, but when you consider the world population, you’d rethink the sheer staggering number that this man sent to the afterlife.

And as life went on, we soon went on to have the First and Second World Wars. These are wars that claimed millions of lives within ridiculously short periods. And I’m not just talking about the ones who lost their lives to bullets and bombs. What about those who died from starvation, illness, or the terrible economy brought on by the war? Even after World War 2 was over, the world took more than a few years to fully recover from the physical and financial devastation that it caused.

And these are just global examples. Now, should we consider civil wars? Wars that have the ability to send half of a country’s population to the afterlife, just like that. We’ve had them all over the world, just about every country has had to fight other countries or fight within itself just to get to where they are today. We’ve all seen the cost of war, but for some reason, many people still haven’t learned anything.

And then, you have to wonder, is this really us not learning from history? Or is Mother Nature simply guiding us to extinction? Because when you look at it, it just seems like we’re steadily closing in on our mass extinction. Today alone, there are more countries in one form of conflict or another than there are countries that have peace. Some countries are fighting other countries, and another set of countries is helping some countries to fight other countries. Then, there are those who have to fight terrorists, mercenaries, and bandits. And I won’t forget those who have to fight the citizens, because the average citizens have access to weapons that only belong on a TV screen.

Every single day, the ratio of people being murdered or killed is way too high compared to the ratio of people simply dying of natural causes, sicknesses, or even accidents. The world is going crazy. And it seems this is just nature's way of trying to reset the universe. Because I don’t get why it seems that every few decades, one individual is born who will look at the entire world and decide that it would look good under his heel, then proceed to plunge everyone into a war.

That’s what we’re approaching now. People keep saying that World War 3 is almost here, and I can’t even bother myself with that because I’m too busy here in Nigeria trying to survive terrorists, bandits, and bad governance. Every country you go to, people are scared of one thing or another. Yet, life still moves on. I still come here to make a blog post, content creators will still make their content, and studios will still release movies. Even clubs will still be open, and motels will still have customers despite the world going crazy all around us.

What does this mean? Why does it seem like, despite knowing what’s happening, we don’t really care anymore? Is this Nature’s way of preparing us for the inevitable? Or by making us nonchalant, we’d be less willing to fight our own extinction. Well, I guess only time will tell.

FYI: This is not a conspiracy theory or anything of that nature. It’s simply me ranting and airing my thoughts on everything happening in the world as I see it. I just hope you made sense of my ramblings…
