Old mate @welshstacker has been doing these various challenges for a little while now and I’d been thinking I should make an effort to get more involved. So when he put the Community Love Challenge out today I figured that it was the perfect time to jump in, because I have a couple of great gifts that have come from the SGS community but one in particular stands out.
It was just before Christmas 2020 and the SGS champion @raybrockman was really getting going with his hand-poured silver Toxic Bullion. As a community SteemSilverGold (as we were called in the beginning) had done a minted STEEM Silver Round each year back in those early days when we were on that platform, but after the big forking drama HIVE was still pretty new as a brand. There was a bit of an effort to rebuild after that tumultuous time. Instead of doing a minted silver round Ray had decided on doing some hand-poured HIVE Hex and HIVE Rounds so a few of us were putting in orders and I wanted one of each. When the package came in the mail Ray had slipped in a couple of extra rounds as a gift, and they were no ordinary rounds! They were a Western Skull and a Slave Queen - two seriously kick ass rounds that still hold pride of place in my stack.
Thanks @welshstacker for doing this challenge. We’ve added a good chunk of new members in the last couple of years who probably don’t know so much about our past and maybe haven’t seen the sort of community love that longer term members have experienced. Your challenge has given me a great opportunity to shout out one of our original legends of SGS who’s just come back from a bit of a hiatus. Very timely mate, thank you!
