The boomers had so much success, just for being in the right place at the right time.
So many of the previous generation's men died in WWII, and so there were so many openings, and so much rebuilding to do. And then the dollar was disconnected from the gold standard, and anyone who had assets started to become wealthy.
There was good jobs, cheap homes (comparatively), the society was still high trust. Everything was looking up.
But, the boomers didn't like all the "square's rules", and with the invention of hormonal birth control, it was all sex, drugs and rock & roll. They gave up their virtues, and the economy has been collapsing ever since.
We had so long of every generation being better off than the last.
Now we have many boomers with two houses, while many of the younger generations have no house, unless you call a tent a house.
The Boomers got power and never gave it up
As i was growing up, climbing the corporate ladder was a thing. It was a dream, an ambition, it was a possibility.
In Scott Adam's words, (creator of dilbert) he got out of college and went to work for a bank, where he was informed that he would never be promoted. There were now quotas, and women had to be promoted. (and since none of the top brass, baby boomers, weren't stepping down, the lower/middle management is where all the female executives would be counted from)
Yes, this is the results of DEI hiring that boomers voted into being. Very few men got to be promoted after that point. And, actually very few people got promoted all the way up the ladder. Because the largest generation had gotten there with all of the expansion that the war brought. And they stay there. Gen X had very little success rising in the ranks. And Gen Z believes that all they will ever have is soul sucking corporate cog jobs.
Look at congress. There are boomers dying in office, which seems the only way to get them out of office. Sleep Joe could barely walk. Mitch McConnell froze up several times in front of cameras.
The really tragic things is that Gen X have never had the power. They do not know what it is like. And, the boomers will die, just in time for Gen X to get power and then retire. You shouldn't just drop someone into power, it is better to let them get a little taste, and then a little more when they show they can handle it… However boomer have tied up all the upper slots. There has been no upward movement.
When the boomer retire because the Grim Reaper escorted them off the premises, there is going to be such a power vacuum, because there is no one who has been trained to take over the reigns.
The Boomers are trying to protect what is "theirs" at the cost of all of their children.
They say that with age, you get wisdom, but it really isn't true, especially now.
Further the "advice" that a boomer would give is almost completely useless. Like, "go to college" is about the worst advice you can give to a young person. Waste of money and time, for nothing. All of those people with unforgivable student loans, all the consequences of this way-past-its-expiration-date advice.
Instead of wisdom, what the boomers have gained is a stuck-in-their-ways attitude, and a fear of anyone trying to take away what is theirs.
Try to discuss fixing Social inSecurity, and you get the most vicious attacks ever. If you point out that the children will never live to see it, they respond with "i paid for it, i am entitled to receive it" When, everyone who knows, knows that it is the next generation that pays for the previous one. The boomers never paid any money into Social inSecurity.
How much of that $2 minimum wage in 1970 does one need to require $10,000 diabetes medicine given out today by Medicare?
Unfortunately, if adjusted for inflation, the minimum wage should be over $60/hour today. And so, the newer generations are making nothing close to what the boomers made. And worse, the young generations do not have the numbers to support the boomers. 10 boomers were paying for each retired person back then. Today, it is getting worse than 1:1. A younger person cannot support an old person at the level of their highest paying job.
And we must include the stock market in this, because most of it is retirement accounts and pensions. If the stock market collapses, then poof go the pensions. And we all know the market is going to collapse because there is no one to buy it at its current price.
We need to fix this, but the boomers screech, "Don't Touch!"
What we need to learn from the Boomers. Never again.
The biggest thing that happened is that the boomers started off protesting the war. But, when congress stopped the draft, they stopped the protests. And then took the high paying jobs, and kept quite.
What should have happened, if the boomers really believed in peace, is when they got into power, the Cocian Import Agency should have been utterly destroyed. How dare they do that to our friends, how dare they make Vietnam so bad.
The boomers also gladly took the high paying industrial warfare money. Instead of minimizing the Military Industrial Complex, they helped it grow. When you throw away some virtues, might as well throw them all away. They started the movement of putting kids into day care, and now the boomers are supporting stupid wars to send their children to, to keep them from starting a (French type) civil war at home, where they would take the heads of those in power.
We really need to comprehend our economy and our society.
We absolutely cannot allow our manufacturing to be sent abroad, so that we get cheap goods now, and our children get no-jobs. We have to think more than one generation ahead.
We cannot allow future generations to be burdened by what their parents / grandparents racking up debt in their name.
We must know that we cannot give up virtues, without dire consequences happening.
The biggest problem i see is that the boomers are sooooooo in trouble. Their wealth is only on paper. There is no one to sell their overpriced houses to. There is no one to sell their overpriced stocks to.
The retirement funds and pensions are way in default. They are no where near fully funded. AND THIS IS IF THERE IS ANY MONEY/ASSETS LEFT IN THEM. And, it looks like they have already been cleaned out.
The dance is over, the lights are going to come on, and we are going to see that everything was stolen.
Then, there is only one, real, question:
How much of your children's lives will the boomers take?
Retirement will only happen by taking from the youth to pay for the retirees. And the retirees are sick (from not taking care of their bodies and eating right) so they need a lot of healthcare. The reason all the migrants were let in is because the boomers needed someone to change their poopy diapers and do their landscape maintenance.
The migrants will be chased out at gunpoint.
So, the question will be, how many children have to give up their lives to support the boomers?
The demographics are sooo skewed. We may be looking at one young worker supporting two elderly people. This is not sustainable. No one will work under those conditions, especially for a group that so many despise.
We need to learn from this lesson, and come up with really out-of-the-box solutions. Like, hangin' all the banksters, and so eliminating the mortgages for everyone. Which will cause so many other issues.
