I've been counting down the days until we finally get to final exams and the subsequent summer break. I'm the head of the department and wanted to at least meet with my professors to celebrate the semester, but unfortunately, it wasn't possible to get together since the semester didn't leave us enough free time. However, I was able to schedule a meeting with my doctoral advisor because she was going on a trip, and I didn't want to let her just leave without first meeting to talk about the semester and wish her a safe trip. So, we decided to meet at the Sambil Shopping Center for a cup of coffee at a place she had recommended: ***Coffee Rolls***.
It's been a long time since I've been to this mall. It officially opened in 2022, and the last time I went in early 2024, most of the stores were open, but the food court was still under construction. So, it was a big surprise when I arrived to see this place fully open and available to the public. Once we arrived, we were able to see the café my tutor wanted to go to: Coffe Rolls. We had to walk quite a bit to get there, but it was worth it because, as you can see, it's a very aesthetically pleasing place with very open and bright spaces.
The main reason my tutor chose this place is because she's addicted to cinnamon rolls, and I won't lie to you, after the chocolate croissants, cinnamon rolls are my favorite sweets. There was a wide variety of sweets in the display case, but the specialty was cinnamon rolls, so we ordered two portions: one with a chocolate-frosted cream topping and the other with a white chocolate and pistachio topping.
I stayed to watch them prepare our coffee. In the end, we ordered two small coffees for my tutor and my mother, while I ordered a mochaccino, which is what I love to drink when I go out for cinnamon rolls. The service was excellent; everything in the place was wonderfully clean. I even realized they also served food like pizzas, but that service was on the second floor. So, friends, maybe this post is just the first part, since I plan to return to try those pizzas and then have coffee, of course!
Afterwards, the coffees and cinnamon rolls were served to our table. The presentation was beautiful. I loved how the rolls were decorated, they almost made me want to eat them! I can tell you about the mochaccino, which was perfect! I mean, it didn't need any sweetening, and both my mother and tutor loved the coffee as well, so in terms of the baristas' mastery of coffee, they get an A+! I do have mixed feelings about the cinnamon rolls, firstly because they were excessively sweet, but—and here's my second observation—I think it was our fault because perhaps we should have ordered more standard cinnamon rolls without so much sweetness. The chocolate one was the most enjoyable, but the pistachio one I didn't enjoy at all; it completely overpowered the cinnamon flavor, so it felt like I was eating a piece of bread with chocolate glaze and pistachios.
That's how we spent this summer afternoon, talking about the future of the next semester, the goals we set for ourselves in the lab and a future multidisciplinary research project, as well as the trips we would take in the coming days to relax, all while enjoying the delicious coffee they made us and the cinnamon rolls. And there they were, the two most important women in my life celebrating the end of our teaching activities with a good cup of coffee. Soon we will celebrate the culmination of one of my most important goals, but that will be for another post.
Well, friends, my rating for Coffee Rolls is a solid 9/10. The only drawback with this place is the price. The coffees and pastries are a bit pricey, so I would recommend this place if you want to have a special get-together with friends or to impress that special someone you want to meet. Finalmente he culminado mis labores docentes en la universidad y no se imaginan el alivio que ha sido, estuve contando los días hasta que por fin llegamos a las evaluaciones finales y las posteriores vacaciones de verano. Soy en jefe de cátedra y quería al menos reunirme con mis profesores para celebrar el semestre, pero lamentablemente fue imposible encontrarnos ya que el semestre no nos dejó el suficiente tiempo libre para reunirnos. Sin embargo, pude al menos agendar una reunión con mi tutora de tesis doctoral porque se iba de viaje y no quería dejar que simplemente se fuera sin antes reunirnos para hablar del semestre y desearle un feliz viaje. Por eso, decidimos reunirnos en el Centro Comercial Sambil para tomar una taza de café en un sitió que me había recomendado: ***Coffee Rolls***.

Hacía mucho tiempo que no venía a este centro comercial, se abrió formalmente en 2022, y la última vez que fui a comienzos de 2024, la mayoría de tiendas estaban abiertas pero la feria de comida aún estaba en construcción, asi que fue una gran sorpresa cuando llegué ver este lugar plenamente abierto y disponible al público. Una vez llegamos, pudimos apreciar el café al que quería ir mi tutora: Coffe Rolls, tuvimos que caminar bastante para llegar pero valio la pena pues como pueden ver es un lugar bastante aesthetic con espacios muy abiertos e iluminados.
La principal razón por la que mi tutora escogió este sitio es porque es adicta a los cinnamon roll y no les mentiré después de los croissant de chocolate, los cinnamon rolls son mis dulces favoritos. Había una gran variedad de dulces en la vitrina, pero la especialidad son los cinnamon rolls asi que pedimos 2 raciones: una con top de crema glaciada con chocolate y la otra con top de chocolate blanco y pistacho.
Me quedé a contemplar como nos preparaban el café, al final pedimos 2 cafés pequeños para mi tutora y mi madre, mientras que yo pedí un mocaccino que es lo que me encanta tomar cuando voy a comer cinnamon rolls. La atención fue excelente, todo en el lugar tenia una pulcritud maravillosa e incluso me di cuenta que también servían comidas como pizzas, pero esa atención la daban en el segundo piso, por lo que amigos quizás este post sea una primera parte, ya que pienso volver para probar esas pizzas con su posterior café por supuesto!
Posteriormente nos sirvieron los cafés y cinnamon rolls a la mesa, una belleza de presentación, me encantaron como estaban adornados los rolls, casi que no daban ganas de comérselos! Del mocaccino les puedo decir que estaba en su punto! Es decir, que no hacía falta endulzarlo de ninguna manera y del café tanto a mi madre y mi tutora les encantó también, así que en cuanto a la maestría de los baristas con el café se llevan un sobresaliente! En los cinnamon si tengo sentimientos encontrados, primeramente porque estaban excesivamente dulces, pero y aquí va mi segunda observación creo que fue nuestra culpa porque quizás debimos pedir unos cinnamon rolls más estándar sin tanto dulce. El de chocolate fue el más disfrutable pero el de pistacho no lo disfrute para nada, anuló por completo el sabor de la canela, así que parecía que me estaba comiendo un pan con chocolate glaceado y pistacho.
Así pasamos esta tarde de verano, hablando del futuro del próximo semestre, la metas que nos planteamos en el laboratorio y un futuro proyecto de investigación multidisciplinario, también de los viajes que haríamos estos días para descansar, todo ello mientras disfrutábamos de ese buen café que nos prepararon y los cinamon rolls. Y alli estaban, las 2 mujeres más importantes en mi vida celebrando el fin de nuestras actividades docentes con una buena taza de café, pronto celebraremos la culminación de una de mis metas más importantes, pero eso será para otro post.
Bien amigos, mi calificación para Coffee Rolls es un sólido 9/10. El único detalle con este lugar es el precio, los cafés y dulces tienen un precio un tanto costoso, por lo que recomendaría este lugar cuando quieras hacer una reunión especial con amigos o para impresionar a esa persona especial que quieras conocer. Sin embargo, aún no termino con este lugar, como dije anteriormente hacen pizzas y me encantan, así que es muy posible que vuelva para probarlas.
