Hoy he querido compartir con ustedes la compra que tuvimos que hacer de un nuevo refrigerador para la casa, era un tema pendiente para mi hermano y para mi que estamos poco a poco renovando los equipos de la casa, estábamos planificando esta importante compra para finales de año pero lamentablemente las circunstancias, siempre imprevistas dejaron fuera de combate nuestra antigua nevera marca Luferca, dejándonos únicamente con el freezer para mantener los alimentos. Esto nos llevó a tomar medidas extremas ya que con el tiempo nos dimos cuenta de lo necesario que es mantener refrigeradas ciertas cosas y no congeladas. Pero antes déjame explicarte como fue que terminamos teniendo un refrigerador de 14 pies completamente inservible. > Hello again, friends of [Geek Zone](https://ecency.com/created/hive-106817)! Today I wanted to share with you the purchase we had of a new refrigerator for our house. It was a pending issue for my brother and I, who are slowly updating the equipment in the house. We were planning this important purchase for the end of the year, but unfortunately, the always unforeseen circumstances rendered our old Luferca refrigerator useless, leaving us with only the freezer to store food. This led us to take extreme measures because over time we realized how necessary it is to keep certain things refrigerated and not frozen. But first, let me explain how we ended up with a completely useless 14-foot refrigerator.

Bueno, resulta que los primeros días de septiembre llegaron con fuertes lluvia y es algo natural ya que aquí en Venezuela tenemos la temporada seca que dura 6 meses y otros 6 meses más de lluvia, bueno esos días llegaron y lamentablemente en mi país el tema de las fallas en la transmisión eléctrica siguen siendo severos, por lo que terminó pasando lo que inevitablemente sabíamos que iba a ocurrir, un apagón que dejó frito no sólo nuestro refrigerador, sino también el fusible del calentador de agua! Fueron dos golpes fuertes y muy seguidos, logramos reparar el calentador de agua, pero la nevera fue donde tuvimos que sentarnos a tomar una decisión, volver a repararla por 4ta vez o definitivamente comprar una nueva para la casa. > Well, it turns out that the first days of September came with heavy rain and it’s a natural thing since here in Venezuela we have the dry season that lasts 6 months and another 6 months of rain, good those days came and unfortunately in my country the issue of electrical transmission failures are still severe, so it ended up happening what we inevitably knew was going to happen, a blackout that left fried not only our refrigerator, but also the water heater fuse! There were two strong blows and very followed, we managed to repair the water heater, but the fridge was where we had to sit down to make a decision, to repair it for the 4th time or definitely buy a new one for the house.

Intentamos improvisar guardando el queso, jamón y los huevos en un refrigerador horizontal pero incluso colocándolo en la configuración menos fría terminaba congelándolo todo, arruinando el queso, los huevos e incluso las botellas de mayonesa y salsa de tomate. La situación nos obligó a decidir la compra definitiva de un nuevo refrigerador lo más pronto posible para no seguir perdiendo los alimentos, fue así como fuimos a la tienda Daka a ver los precios de los distintos modelos. We tried to improvise by storing the cheese, ham and eggs in a horizontal refrigerator but even placing it in the less cold setting ended up freezing everything, ruining the cheese, eggs and even the bottles of mayonnaise and tomato sauce. The situation forced us to decide the final purchase of a new refrigerator as soon as possible not to continue losing food, so we went to the Daka store to see the prices of the different models.

Mi hermano y yo habíamos quedado con presupuestos limitados después de reparar el calentador de agua, así que no íbamos a poder comprar la nevera que queríamos. Mi interés estaba en comprar una marca que fuera Daewoo como la que tengo en mi laboratorio de investigación o que fuera marca LG que era la que mi madre más quería tener por su diseño colorido, pero la realidad nos impidió concretar ese sueño, pues en promedio esas neveras están sobre los 1000-1200$. > My brother and I were stuck with limited budgets after repairing the water heater, so we weren't going to be able to buy the refrigerator we wanted. I was interested in buying a Daewoo brand, like the one I have in my research lab, or an LG brand, which was the one my mother most wanted for its colorful design. But reality prevented us from achieving that dream, as those refrigerators average around $1,000-$1,200.

Sin embargo una excelente alternativa salió a relucir, una nevera con las mismas medidas que la que se nos averió marca Whirlpool. Esto vino genial porque nuestro tope de cocina también la compramos Whirlpool que ya había reseñado en este [Post](https://ecency.com/hive-106817/@bulkathos/unboxing-tope-de-cocina-elctrico-whirlpool-wce97us0h-espeng-jfw) y después de 1 año de uso debo decir que es un producto excelente. Cuando preguntamos el precio, nos dijeron que estaba en oferta: 650$, obviamente aunque las medidas eran parecidas a la que se averió su profundidad era limitada por lo que no cabrían muchas cosas en el freezer. Sin embargo, para congelar cosas ya tenemos el congelador horizontal, lo que nos interesa es mantener en frío ciertos alimentos como agua, frutas, hortalizas, salsas y huevos así que vimos bien adquirir esta nevera. > However, an excellent alternative emerged: a Whirlpool refrigerator with the same dimensions as the one that broke. When we asked the price, they told us it was on sale: $650, obviously although the measurements were similar to the one that broke its depth was limited so not many things would fit in the freezer. However, to freeze things we already have the horizontal freezer, what we are interested in is keeping certain foods cold such as water, fruits, vegetables, sauces and eggs so we saw good to acquire this refrigerator.

Con la decisión tomada pagamos el equipo y también el envío como elemento extra compré un UPS nuevo solo para esta nevera y en 24 horas nos hicieron el envío de la nevera. Un vecino nos ayudo a subir la nevera al apartamento mientras mi hermano y yo sacábamos la nevera antigua de la cocina y en el proceso aproveche y tomé fotos del unboxing. > With that decision made, we paid for the equipment and also the shipping. As an extra, I bought a new UPS just for this refrigerator, and the refrigerator was shipped to us within 24 hours. A neighbor helped us bring the fridge up to the apartment while my brother and I took the old fridge out of the kitchen, and in the process I took advantage and took photos of the unboxing.

Después de colocar la nueva nevera en el estrecho espacio de la cocina, fui armando los distintos paneles de la nevera en la parte inferior y colocando la hielera en el congelador superior, al ir armándola me di cuenta de lo pequeña que era, es decir, no era tan profunda como nuestra nevera anterior incluso era más chica que nuestro refrigerador del laboratorio. Sin embargo, por ahora es una solución que por los momentos nos va ayudar a conservar frío los alimentos. > After fitting the new refrigerator into the narrow kitchen space, I assembled the various panels on the bottom and placed the cooler in the top freezer. As I assembled it, I realized how small it was. It wasn't as deep as our old refrigerator, and it was even smaller than our lab refrigerator. However, for now, it's a solution that will help us keep our food cold.

Y bien amigos, creo que lo mejor de todo esto fue la expresión de alegría de mi madre, tenía sentimiento por su antigua nevera, le tenía un gran cariño pero ya había dado todo lo que podía dar en más de 10 años ya, así que lo superó rápidamente y le dio la bienvenida a su nueva nevera, comenzando a mover todo lo que teníamos en el congelador bastante contenta. Con esto termino este unboxing/compra de emergencia y bastante accidentado para ser honestos, pero supongo que las ruedas del destino maquinaron para que esto pasara así que asumo que fue lo mejor.
