Happy start of the week, dear [Feel Good](https://ecency.com/created/hive-190931) community! Today I received some great news: a book I've been waiting for a long time has arrived and it has finally been sent to me by mail to the historic center of my city, that is, to Plaza Bolivar. So I got up very early and took my cell phone to try to get some moment worth capturing for this [contest #77](https://ecency.com/hive-190931/@untilwelearn/phone-photography-contest-77). As I walked downtown, I wondered what makes us Caracas natives, and of course, I remembered the historic events that led to our independence 200 years ago. The declaration and signing of the Act of Independence took place right in these spaces of Plaza Bolivar. Well, 200 years ago, it was known as the Plaza Mayor of Caracas, but it was those events that led us to the reality we live in today. We are the product of a historical process that began in this plaza, and its repercussions were ultimately continental. That's how inspiration struck me, and I decided to photograph the great Caracas Cathedral. More than a religious structure, it has become a historic monument precisely because of the historical weight that rests on its walls and columns.

Over 450 years old, this cathedral has undergone many changes, and the most recent, or definitive, if we wish to call it that, is the neo-Baroque style, a consequence of the Belle Époque movement, when Caracas and its main institutions were given an architectural appearance that emulated the Parisian streets of the mid-19th century. While taking the photographs, I was lucky enough to come across a thematic figure: The Young Simón Bolívar. These are initiatives by the Ministry of Culture to recreate the moments of independence fervor that existed in those years, so I decided to take a photo of him with the cathedral in the background to complete the composition.

Hoy recibí una genial noticia me ha llegado un libro que he estado esperando durante mucho tiempo y finalmente me lo han mandado por correspondencia al centro histórico de mi ciudad, es decir en la Plaza Bolívar. Así que me preparé muy temprano y llevé mi teléfono móvil y tratar de conseguir algún momento que valiera la pena capturar para el presente [concurso #77](https://ecency.com/hive-190931/@untilwelearn/phone-photography-contest-77). Mientras iba camino al centro me preguntaba que nos hace ser caraqueño y por supuesto recordaba los eventos históricos que nos llevaron a ser independientes hace 200 años, la declaración y la firma del acta de independencia fueron justo en estos espacios de la Plaza Bolívar, que bueno hace 200 años era conocida la Plaza Mayor de Caracas pero fueron esos eventos los que nos llevaron a la realidad que actualmente vivimos, somos el producto de un devenir histórico que comenzó en esta plaza y sus repercusiones fueron en última instancia continentales. Fue así como me llegó la inspiración y decidí fotografiar la gran Catedral de Caracas más que una estructura religiosa, se ha convertido en monumento histórico justamente por el peso histórico que recae en sus muros y columnas.

Con más de 450 años esta catedral sufrió por muchos cambios y la más reciente o definitiva si deseamos llamarla así es ese estilo neobarroco que es consecuencia de la corriente de la La belle époque cuando se le dio a Caracas y sus principales instituciones un aspecto arquitectónico que emulaba a las calles parisinas de mediados de siglo XIX. Mientras tomaba las fotografías tuve la suerte de encontrarme con un personaje temático: El Joven Simón Bolívar, son iniciativas del ministerio de cultura para recrear aquellos momentos del fervor independentista que se vivía en aquellos años, así que decidí tomarle una fotografía con la catedral de fondo para completar la composición.
