I don't collect many series of coins, but the Germania Valkyrie series is the one exception I'm making. They do such an excellent job with all of their designs and execution. This is one series I couldn't turn down. I had forgotten I ordered this one until my dealer notified me it had arrived.
Obverse
On the obverse, we have Arnhild, the guardian of the fortress. You can see what looks like the top of a fortress in the background, poking up above the treetops. She's surrounded by eagles, which represent strength, courage, and wisdom. (Source)
Reverse
On the reverse is the traditional Germania design to the right, but they added an eagle to the back. Not only is the design fantastic, but I love that they do this with every single Valkyrie round they make. It's an extra added touch that makes it so much more detailed!
These are considered "brilliant uncirculated," but they do such an amazing job polishing them that they're practically "proof-like." They're limited to only 25,000 pieces, so they're likely to only keep going up in value. I paid $44 for this, so they're not practical for stacking, but not grossly overpriced for a collectible.
I believe this is the fourth in the series. I'm not sure how many they will make in total, but if you're looking to start collecting a series, it's not too late with this one.
