Hello everyone! It's been a while since I wrote and so I thought I'd share some photos I took this weekend, since in reality due to the heat I haven't been out much these past few weeks, not only because of the heat but also because I've been quite busy at work.
This weekend, I decided instead to go to Asiago, a beautiful town located in the mountains in the province of Vicenza, a fairly well-known destination I think even abroad, where I used to go when I was little with my grandparents, for the classic summer holidays.
It's been a while since I've been there, but I also went with the hope of finding a slightly lower temperature, mostly because in my area recently it has reached 38 degrees and we are clearly above average, even at night it's hard to sleep because it's always hot and the temperatures are always over 30 degrees.
Surely what struck me about Asiago is its beautiful Piazza Carli where there are numerous very relevant and very important monuments.
For example, there is the fountain of the faun, a mythological deity protector of flocks and fields, probably one of the most widespread activities in these parts until I think the fifties.
And then I also noticed the cathedral of San Matteo that overlooks the square and is dedicated to the patron saint of the city, of course all these monuments that you see were rebuilt after the Great War that really caused a lot of damage here and several people died.
There is also the Town Hall which is also located in the square and is quite particular for its bell tower where you can see the lion of San Marco carved, because Asiago for several years was under the dominion of the Republic of Venice. I stayed because there were not many people around, among other things in the square there was also a kind of monster with some paintings that you could admire and that is what I did during my walk.
Then I moved to the more naturalistic, more wooded area. In fact, one of the most popular activities in the summer and the one that people usually come here for is to go trekking along various hiking trails where these trails also wind through wonderful woods.
I must say that there were quite a few people there and as you can see from some photos, several cars were parked, because they arrive here by car and then walk to the shelters.
I hope that my photos that I shared were interesting, see you next time
