Sunday's race began with Verstappen leading from pole position, thanks to a masterful qualifying lap on Saturday. That lap, which put him just ahead of the McLaren, marked the first major turning point of the weekend. From the start, Max capitalized on his flawless start, closing off any chance for Lando Norris to snatch the position. From that moment on, the competition became a management task for the Dutchman. On the other hand, McLaren, despite its potential, missed several opportunities. The decision not to allow Oscar Piastri to overtake Norris at a crucial moment of the race was a strategic error that ended up sealing the result. Piastri, with better pace, could have put pressure on Verstappen in the closing laps, but by staying behind his teammate, the British team ran out of tools to fight for the victory.

The only moment of real tension in the race was in the pit lane, when Verstappen and Norris had a small clash. Although some questioned Max's maneuver, the images on board showed that the Dutchman, with his experience and cunning, simply defended his position without giving unnecessary space. Norris, for his part, took a risk to the limit, but ended up paying the price by briefly running off the track. This incident was a reminder of why Verstappen remains one of the shrewdest and most competitive drivers on the grid. What made the win look so effortless was the flawless execution of the Red Bull team. The pit stops were timed to perfection, and the race strategy was flawless. Despite not having the best car of the weekend, Verstappen and his team proved that a combination of talent and smart decisions can overcome even the fastest of rivals.

With this victory, Max Verstappen not only scored his fourth consecutive win in Japan and the 64th of his career, but also sent a clear message: the champion is back. Although the start of the season was not ideal for him, this triumph reaffirms his leadership capacity and his ability to make the most of any situation. On the other hand, McLaren will have to reflect on its strategic decisions if it really wants to challenge the champion. The Japanese Grand Prix 2025 will not be remembered as the most exciting race, but as an example of how great drivers and teams achieve victories even when the circumstances are not ideal. Max Verstappen once again showed why he is a name that will go down in Formula 1 history, and with his performance in Suzuka, he made it clear that he still has much more to offer this season. Super Max is back, and the rest of the grid should take note.
