I knew the second I saw her that we were meant to be together. I knew it was a rare thing to be able to recognize your soul mate at first glance, but it was a skill I had. I could see people's souls.

Sure, I had messed up before. Thought that a woman was "The One" until she proved me wrong.

That day was different. SHE was different. I was just in line getting coffee and I heard coffee splattering on the floor.

"FUCK!" sent a bit of a shock through the quiet shop, and definitely caught my attention.

I looked over and saw her.

Her eyes met mine and I felt as if someone had physically pushed me backward. I think I gasped or maybe I held my breath. I couldn't look away.

I felt my friend tugging on my arm, heard my name as if it was coming from a million miles away, but all I saw was her.

"Dude, come ON. Stop staring at that chick, She has crazy eyes. You don't need another crazy woman in your life. Come on. Remember what always happens. Please, just ignore her. Get your coffee, you'll feel better."

I went through the motions, but all I could think of was her. Those 'crazy' eyes. I would have sworn I could still feel them boring into me even as I ordered.

Maybe she felt it as much as I did. Surely she did. This couldn't possibly be a one-way thing. She'd nearly knocked me on my ass.

I held my breath, imagining how the conversation would go in my mind. I'd say something chill, maybe a little charming and she'd laugh and tease me. We'd exchange numbers and I'd call her later for a date.

I turned, putting on my best smile, ready to offer to buy her a coffee to replace the one she'd spilled.

There she was, looking much more put together... with another man's arms around her, holding her close.

It was like a punch in the gut.

Just before I looked away, our eyes met again. I still felt it. The connection.

It might not be my day, the timing might be off, but she would be mine. I started making plans in my head. I'd follow her until he was gone. I'd watch her every move... I'd find her alone someday and make her mine.

There was still room in my backfield if she didn't behave. She could join the others if it turned out she was crazy. Or maybe this one would be different. This one might be my real soul-mate. My one true love.

Love could heal the crazy. I was sure of it.
