It’s another #sublimesunday - given so many people are keeping up with the tag I created now seems like a good time to do the same myself!

And it’s not like I am ever short of things happening, we have had quite a mixed weather week of sunshine and showers - could almost be April again. Today it is sunny but quite windy still, and despite some heavy rain in recent days the hosepipe ban could be on well into winter.

Not managed to find any good flowers for this week, but found some nice examples from my photo history

We had a Bank Holiday last Monday, which always seems like a good idea - an extra day off work. The only problem is the work just keeps building up so there is the same amount to do and one less day to do it in. So it’s definitely been busy, with loads of roasted coffee to produce and ship out.

Good news though, the 10kg roaster has been running fine all week - it seems like the replaced capacitor has solved the issue with the cooling fan motor and it has worked fine all week. I did have some concerns, because normally the motors they use on the roasters have a single capacitor for start/stop/run of the motor. When I opened up the motor on the 10kg, it had two capacitors - the one I replaced that had clearly failed badly, and another larger black unit which I was not so sure of it’s function. After reaching out to the roaster manufacturer, it seems the black unit is a run only capacitor - and what I should have replaced the smaller unit with was a start/stop only unit. I am still waiting on an answer as to if using a start/stop/run capacitor would cause an issue - but as the motor has run fine all week I guess it’s fine.

I did manage to get some photos of the coffee roasting, and dropping out to cool - that always looks good. And I took a photo of the roaster, the photo in last weeks post was from just after it had been installed in May - I have tidied up the walls a bit since then.

While the new roaster has improved productivity, pretty obvious really it is replacing a 5kg roaster so twice the roast capacity in the same amount of time, plus the cooling pipe is separate now - when they were joined on the 5kg the cooling fan being on messed with the drum air flow so we could only roast again once cooling had finished - now we can roast as soon as the coffee is out in the cooling tray. Plus new variable speed drum and exhaust is improving the coffee quality even more, and the auto chaff discharge system makes clean up easy and stops us having to cool down and shut off the roaster half way through the day. I do still need to move the old 5kg roaster though, had a few people interested but it could be sitting taking up storage space a while longer yet.

So another fun and games week for #sublimesunday - all photos my own taken on my iPhone.
